Thank you for this list… I really appreciate it!
We just arrived with our little Maltese dog and we are so shocked, how pet unfriendly this island is. We traveled to so many places with our dog and never experienced anything like that elsewhere in the world. No beach walks (only these few beaches which are far away from where we stay) and not even walking on the promenade is allowed. You are really extremely restricted here with a dog…
To be honest, we are thinking about packing our stuff and leaving the island as soon as possible. :´(
This is so so sad…
But we will try your recommendations though – thank you!

Hi Saskia! I am so sorry to read that, but this is so 🙁 have a good holidays!

Hello!
I posted a comment regarding a list I found on another website, but my comment got deleted. 🙁
I didn't say anything wrong, I just had a question regarding the beaches that were mentioned on that list.
We're planning to spend a whole month on Gran Canaria with our border collie, and we would really need a clear picture regarding which beaches we can go.
Aldea beach is going to be the closest to us, and we had the information that it's now a pet friendly beach.
Could you please advise us regarding that? Thank you!
Ruth & Jorge says
Hi Georgina! As far as I am concerned the only legal beaches in Gran Canaria are the ones we share here! Anyway, I guess the police in the Village are more flexible as there are not many visitors. Good luck!
Brisa Berenise Rodríguez Yacelga6 says
As I have seen the Bahia posters of shapes. Dogs can be there, but if they are dangerous or aggressive, they are forced to be muzzled.
Ruth & Jorge says
Hello Brisa, I'm glad it has changed... last time, when we wrote this article, the Santa Lucía de Tirajana town hall informed us that they did not have any dog beaches contemplated in their ordinance...
Maria12 says
But the general rule is that the owners leave the dogs' poop everywhere, in the Alcaravaneras the tide does not flow, the piss should be smelled in praise of a year, because it does not clean itself with the waves
We must also remember that there are people who like to go to the beach without dogs, let's respect that too.
Ruth & Jorge says
Yes, of course, we don't ask that all beaches be pet friendly! If not there are more, there are only 4 of more than 80 beaches and puddles on the island 🙂 Spaces can be designated for everyone!
Nacho says
It seems horrible to me that people without cars cannot use the Alcaravaneras beach (full of shit and homeless people) in Las Palmas. I think something should be done on such a neglected urban beach and allow dogs (cleaner than humans) to take a cool bath.
Local Guide Gran Canaria says
I see it!!!
Carmen Maria says
It is good that dogs can be on the beach with their owners, but it is also advisable that the owners be responsible and leave everything clean
