How many days to see Kuala Lumpur? We dedicate two full days and we were able to visit all the places we mentioned on this list. Kuala Lumpur means "muddy confluence" in Malay (two rivers meet in the city) and, as you will read below, it is one of the most complete cities in Southeast Asia.
1) Petronas Towers, one of the best things to see and do in Kuala Lumpur
These twin towers are the icon of the city and one of the most famous places to see in Kuala Lumpur. It's also possible go up to the skybridge and the viewing platform on the 86th floor (paid entrance). 2) KLCC Park
This park is right next to the Petronas Towers and is ideal for take a walk, rest or have a picnicThere are green areas, fountains, a children's area with free swimming pool and many banks. From here you can enjoy the light and music show at night, with the towers illuminated in the background. The light show in front of the Petronas Towers is every day at 20:00 PM, 21:00 PM, and 22:00 PM., although be careful because when we went it started about 5 minutes before the time. 3) Jalan Alor and its street food, what to do in Kuala Lumpur
If you like to eat well and cheap, this is street full of street stalls It is a must-do plan (photo at the beginning of this post). It is located in the neighborhood of Bukit Bintang and is one of the best places to try typical Malaysian food, but also Chinese, Thai, or Indian. This is the Kuala Lumpur's liveliest and most commercial district. 5) Batu Caves, what to see in Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas
Batu caves is one of tourist places to see near Kuala Lumpur and also one of the most visited. It is a set of caves located on a hill where stands out the huge golden statue of Murugan, next to a colorful staircase with more than 270 steps. This place is located about 30 minutes from downtown Kuala LumpurTo get there, we recommend book a Grab (the Malaysian Uber), the The price of the journey from the centre is approximately 20 MYR (4 euros). We recommend setting up your Grab account before starting your trip. Access to the most famous cave is free (girls, shorts are not allowed), although there are other nearby caves that do require a fee. There are many monkeys on the loose in the area, so be careful with the food.
6) Merdeka Square
This is the most historic square in Kuala Lumpur, where Malaysia declared independence in 1957, after having been a British colony. The name «Merdeka» means "independence" in Malay, and here one waves huge national flag as a symbol of that key moment for the country. Around it you can see some of the most beautiful colonial buildings of the city, like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Kuala Lumpur City Gallery. It's a very spacious area for walking, taking photos, and taking a break. Merdeka is very close to the central market, another of the places to visit in Kuala Lumpur.

11) Kampung Bharu
Kampung Bharu is a traditional Malay neighborhood that has resisted urban development. Here you will find wood houses, quiet streets and some of the best street food places (recommended for the evening). We tried a restaurant recommended by the Grab driver: «Nasi Lemak Wanjo». The Nasi Lemak It is the national dish of Malaysia. It is usually served with toasted nuts, egg, ikan bilis (anchovies) and cucumber slices. In this restaurant you could add anything you wanted (chicken, tempeh, potato, fried or boiled egg...). To visit Kampung Bharu we recommend you do so by crossing the Saloma Bridge from the Petronas Towers area.
12) Merdeka 118 or Merdeka Tower
Is second tallest skyscraper in the world (behind Dubai's Burj Khalifa). The viewing platform isn't open yet, but seeing it from the outside is already impressive. It is also located in the neighborhood of Bukit BintangIn our opinion, it's not one of Kuala Lumpur's must-sees, especially because the mall isn't that great.
