And keep in mind that there are areas where there are no trees along the trail, nor places to buy water or food, so it is very important that Bring enough water and provisions, as well as good protection from the sun. And finally, the right hiking gear.
We also have this other one hiking route through Ingenio with views of Guayadeque at a more moderate level. We leave you with the views that this route to the ravine offers in case you want more information.
✔ Stay in a cave house in Guayadeque
As we commented, in the ravine there are cave houses where you can stay. A unique experience in a totally rural environment. The two options for sleeping in Guayadeque are Rural houses of Guayadeque and Casa Juani Guayadeque. These two houses are almost at the end of the road that crosses the ravine and bordering the path that we mentioned before the souvenir cave house.
Guayadeque Restaurants
In Guayadeque there are several restaurants, all of them inside caves. We list them all: Restaurant Vega, Tagoror, La Era, El Centro and the Guayadeque restaurant. Personally, the one we like the most is La Era, since it has good cuisine, views of the ravine and few tables, so the treatment is closer and there is less noise. The Vega is not bad, but it tends to be a bit scandalous. The La Era restaurant also has a spectacular terrace for less cool days.
The last time we went we ordered a doomed wine, that is, sweet wine and red wine mixed. We also tested the Ingenio cheeses and grilled meat for two with Padrón peppers and natural fries. All very rich.
How to get to the Guayadeque ravine
To get to Guayadeque you will have to do it by car, since there is no public transportation that will take you here.. From the center of Agüimes to the first restaurant it is 6 kilometers. On the other hand, from the historic center of Ingenio It is 5,2 kilometers to the first restaurant, practically the same distance. In reality you can walk from both municipalities following the road. However, if you want to get to the top of the ravine where the Vega and La Era restaurants are, we are already talking about almost 9 kilometers (one way).

Good afternoon, first of all I want to congratulate you for your work and for helping us to get to know the island better with your routes. Regarding the restaurants in Guayadeque, the Vega restaurant for me is the best by far, the Tagoror the most beautiful and the Guayadeque restaurant the cheapest! Thanks greetings!

Hello Juana!!! Thank you very much for your support 🙂 Have you been to La Era? We have been in the Vega and we like it too, but it seems more like a battle and very noisy. La Era is in a special corner of the ravine and has a terrace. Also, being smaller, the treatment is closer 🙂 In any case, we have always eaten well in Guayadeque, in any of the caves. By the way, thank you also for sharing your experience with other readers. a hug!

Well! Well! Well! What a cool and special place. I've heard you on the podcasts, I've read you on the blog, and I knew I couldn't miss it. And of course IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Being in such an arid and desert area, coming across this ravine is like transporting you to another place and gives it even more value.
Although I had the idea of eating at "La Era" because you recommended it so much, in the end. We ate in Tagoror. We went on a daily day and there was no hustle and bustle. There were people but many free tables, on a fabulous summer day, people preferred to be on the terrace (which was luxurious) but we wanted to eat in the cave. We were with three small children and eating in a cave, on a stone table, “Flintstones” style, was very cool. It was late, it was hot, we stopped, there was room and we stayed. (That later we were aware that La Era was immediately around the corner). In any case, we ate very well, very calmly, and it was a pleasant experience.
What I also recommend is that you do the circular path on foot. Although it seems that it never ends or that it doesn't get anywhere, go around the block and you will get to Tagaror again. And in the souvenir shop you have to snack (it is at number 33 on the path)
For us it has been a very special day and we really liked it. All thanks to all the recommendations from local Guider Gran Canarias. Thanks guys, very accurate!
