In addition to knowing how to get around Gran Canaria, you should know how to do it in the city. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria can be seen perfectly on foot, since the tourist areas are all flat. Another very good alternative is the bicycle, as there are several bike lanes from end to end of the city. You also have the option of doing it by public transport or in the touristic bus de la ciudad.

✔ Municipal buses

The municipal buses are the urban public transport service of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. These are yellow buses that connect practically all parts of the city, especially the busiest and most touristy ones. To get around Las Palmas we do recommend this service, since all the important areas to visit are very well connected and with a certain frequency. Furthermore, the service is quite punctual. ✔ Taxi

The taxi is also a very good option to get around Gran Canaria., but mainly within the same municipality or area. For example, within Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or in the area of Maspalomas. Especially if you are short on time. Or if you go in a group of 3-4 people, it may even be cheaper than a bus. Urban taxis in general are not very expensive. However, if you want to go from Maspalomas to Las Palmas, it can easily cost you €80 just one way. The revolutionary VTC transport services have not yet arrived on the island of Gran Canaria. Uber, Lyft or Cabify.

  • Approximate taxi price from Gran Canaria airport to Las Palmas = €25 (depending on time, traffic and area)
  • Approximate taxi price from Gran Canaria Maspalomas airport = €35 (depending on time, traffic and area)

Taxis in Gran Canaria are all white. They normally have the logo of the municipality to which they belong on one side of it. We see an example below.

In general in Gran Canaria there are usually no scams with taxis, it is a quite serious and safe service. However, like everywhere, there may always be a taxi driver who takes you one extra turn to reach your final destination. Of course, it is not common at all. If you prefer a private transfer with a fixed price, remember that you can reserve it here and you can cancel it up to 24 hours free of charge.
