In this article we are going to talk to you about the beaches of Telde. The coast of Telde It is one of the most beautiful Gran Canaria and, at the same time, one of the great unknowns for the tourism that visits the island. Of course, lately its beaches have been gaining prominence. The municipality of Telde is located about 20 minutes from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and about 25 minutes of Maspalomas. Therefore, It is not a bad idea to choose this area of the island to stay and discover the most authentic side of Gran Canaria..
You should know that the beaches of Telde are not kilometers long like the Playa del Inglés. On the contrary, They are usually small coves. Likewise, almost all the beaches that we are going to mention They are dark sand.
Telde beaches
Next we mention you the most unique beaches of Telde and the most notable of each one. If you like, let's follow an order mentioning them. In this case we will go from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria towards the south in case you want to visit them one by one along the coast. Here we go!
✔ Barranquillo Beach
This is one of the great unknowns of Telde. On sand is fine and black. It is perfect for those who like to sunbathe and swim less, since, as seen in the photo, access to water is limited. At low tide it joins the San Borondón beach that we will tell you about below.
✔ San Borondón Beach
Saint Borondon It is not that it is one of the best-known beaches in Telde either. Possibly because of how dangerous it is due to its strong waves and treacherous currents. Therefore, few bathers come here, only local surfers dare to get into the water. You can walk to La Garita along the Punta de La Mareta bordering the coast. Along this walk we will first come across Palos beach.
✔ Palos Beach or Playa Chica
Like San Borondón, given its orientation, the Palos beach is very dangerous due to its waves and currents. This often turns it into a beach. perfect for catching waves. Like most of the beaches in Telde, it has fine black sand.
✔ La Garita Beach
La Garita beach has dark sand and is about 260 meters long. Furthermore, it is an accessible beach, Has toilets and the distinguished Blue flag. Bathing conditions are usually good and, in the area, there is a walk that leads to the next beach, as well as bars, cafes, bakeries, pharmacies, etc.
✔ Hoya del Pozo Beach
The next Telde beach that we find would be Hoya del Pozo. For us one of the favorites. It is also a accessible beach, with Blue Flag and toilets. Although this one is smaller, only about 150m long and, as you see below, dark sand and some rock. There may be some current here, so be careful with.
✔ Man's Beach
If we continue along the coast of Telde we arrive at Playa del Hombre, the most frequented by surfers in the area and on the island. And, therefore, one of the most dangerous due to its waves and currents. This beach is somewhat larger, approximately 270 m long. It is made of dark sand and has showers.
✔ Taliarte Pier
After Playa del Hombre we reach Taliarte and its dock. Here it is not that there is a beach as such, but it is a full-fledged bathing area and very frequented by residents of the area. Rather they are little puddles and, furthermore, from here comes the 1000 m swim channel to Salinetas beach. Here The waters are calmer and also ideal for kayaking, paddle surfing, etc.
To eat in the area you cannot miss a good plate of fresh fish at the Taliarte Fishermen's Guild.
✔ Melenara Beach
From Taliarte there is a beautiful promenade that reaches Salinetas, passing through the Melenara beach. Melenara beach is one of the best known in Telde. Both to spend the day and sunbathe, as well as for its wide range of restaurants. Melenara is also known for her sculpture of Neptune in the middle of the ocean. Its sand is dark and it is one of the largest in the area, measuring 350m in length.
In addition, Melenara has a Blue Flag, toilets, is accessible for people with reduced mobility and recommended for families.
✔ Salinetas Beach
If we continue along the walk, or swim, we will reach another beach in Telde. It is the Salinetas beach. Although, you should know that this can be one of the windiest. In principle it is a quite quiet and family beach and the smallest ones. Its sand is somewhat lighter than the others that we have mentioned before.
Salinetas is not far behind in terms of services, as it also has the Blue Flag, toilets and showers. This is somewhat smaller than Melenara, 320 m long.
✔ Aguadulce Beach
To get to the Aguadulce beach yes we have to take the car, since From Salinetas to this here we find an industrial area and even a small goods dock. Aguadulce is the only beach in Telde with gold sand and, given its location, it can be one of the dirtiest. This is because the entire current carries the garbage to this area and it is possible that some remains from the surrounding factories arrive.
There are no services in the area and there is hardly any coverage. The length of this beach is barely 140m and it is not adapted at all, since it is a fairly virgin area.
✔ Tufia Beach
La Tufia beach is one of best beaches in Gran Canaria, not only because of its unique environment, but because of the quality of its waters and tranquility. Tufia is known for being one of the best places for scuba diving on the island. Besides, What we like about Tufia is its authenticity and nautical touches. Of course, at high tide you can barely be on the sand.
It is very close to the airport, so from here you will hear the planes. It has shower service, but there is nothing else around. No services, no place to eat, no telephone coverage. Is one of the smallest in Telde, with only 110 m in length.
✔ Heron Eyes Beach
La Ojos de Garza beach is largest in Telde, with close to 500m length. However, When the tide comes in, there is practically no sand left, since at the time the houses were built very close to the sea. Here you should keep in mind that it can also be windy. In fact, there is an area for windsurfing.
It is a few kilometers from the airport. Likewise, it is an area where it is very difficult to park, especially on weekends and holidays. To eat here you have the Bar Zurita with sea views.
