The Melenara is one of the largest in Telde, on the east coast of Gran Canaria. It is characterized by sculpture of Neptune that is located in the sea a few meters from the shore. In addition, it also has a wide gastronomic offer with views of the beach. Do you think we tell you everything below?
Melenara Beach
Melenara is from fine black sand, like almost all the beaches in the area. It has the distinguished Blue flag, given the accessibility of its beach, toilets and showers. In addition, it has a lifeguard service in high season, on holidays and weekends. It is sometimes windy in this area, so check it here before going.
To park in Melenara there is a large plot of land, as well as on the access roads to the beach. Both options are Returns. Likewise, along the beach There is a very pleasant walk that leaves aside the Salinetas beach and on the other side the pier Taliarte.
A beach for families
On the other hand, next to the same beach There is a park for children and there are also designated shaded picnic areas, so we recommend this beach 100% for families.
Where to eat in Melenara
To eat in Melenara, our favorite place is El Mago Karlín, which includes Canarian and Italian cuisine in its offering. La Rubia and the Venecia also have a very good reputation in the area. However, they are usually very crowded (especially on holidays and weekends) and the quality is not that good. Just 10 minutes walk along the promenade you also have the Taliarte Fishermen's Guild with a very good local food and value for money. The only handicap of this last restaurant is that you do not eat with views of the sea. Nevertheless, It is a 100% recommended site and localguider.
Open water swim channel
If you are looking for an area in which to practice swimming on the beaches of Gran Canaria, there is a channel that follows the following route: Taliarte – Melenara – Salinetas. There are a total of 1000 meters to be able to swim in open water.
Apartments in Melenara
Melenara is a recommended area for stay in Gran Canaria if you want to mix with local life and avoid tourist places. Here you will have everything you need: supermarkets, restaurants, beaches, a beautiful promenade, etc. The good thing is that it is about 20 minutes by car from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and about 30 minutes from Maspalomas. You can even find a dream apartment with sea views!
