If you are planning to explore the different natural landscapes that Gran Canaria has to offer, you will love this hiking route through Ingenio that starts from The Sequero. The main attraction of this route is that it runs through the traditional path of Cañada de Castro with stunning views of the Guayadeque ravine. During the route You will walk between ravines next to prickly pear trees, cardones and tabaibas, another of the natural scenes that our beloved island offers us. Hiking through Ingenio from El Sequero
La hiking route through Ingenio What we propose is circular and begins in the Sequero neighborhood. The journey begins by crossing the Ingenio ravine surrounded by cactus trees. As we move forward, we take the traditional path of Cañada de Castro, where you will enjoy unique views of the Guayadeque ravine until you reach the viewpoint and Cave of La Pasadilla. Once here, we begin the descent to our starting point with views of the coast of Ingenio with the Gando point protagonist.

In addition to the natural environment, there are several points of interest on the route that you cannot miss. Below, we mention the most notable ones:

Note that The route runs along arid paths without trees to protect you from the sun. What we recommend carrying sun protection and hat. The flora that you will mainly see will be tabaibas, prickly pears (in flower during the month of May), pitas and cardones. to me personally I was fascinated to see so many cactus trees in bloom. We show it to you in the video at the end of the route. If you do this walk between the months of October-December instead of the flower, you will see the fruit of the prickly pear or prickly pear (as we call the prickly pear in Gran Canaria).

Keep in mind that it is an intermediate level route, as it is a little more than 9 kilometers and around 2 hours of walking. Although it is true that the 400 m climb is quite bearable and not as steep as other mountain areas of Gran Canaria.

IMPORTANT: It is essential to carry at least 1 liter of water per person and some snacks, since you won't find any stores along the way. Also be sure to bring suitable footwear for hiking, since the terrain varies between dirt paths, stones and elevated areas.
