The La Caldera restaurant is one of our favorites in terms of local food in Gran Canaria. Their dishes are delicious and, in addition, it is cheap. It stands out for its specialty in grilled meats and, of course, for its boiled pork ribs with pineapple (corn). In few places on the island you can try this typical Canary Islands dish. Anyway, it's not your only delicatessen, their mushroom and spinach croquettes have won us over. Not to mention their watercress stew!
La Caldera Restaurant, Canarian food in a local environment
The La Caldera restaurant is in the municipality of Firgas, in a small neighborhood of the same name. It's found just 5 minutes by car from the urban centers of Firgas y Arucas. So if you plan to visit one of these two towns, it is a great plan to eat!
As we told you at the beginning, at La Caldera you cannot miss the boiled pork ribs that come accompanied by pineapple and potatoes. Likewise, they make some pork ribs, as well as other delicious grilled meats. In the same way, both Mushroom croquettes, like spinach croquettes, are unique.
If you are more of a spoon dish, you have to try the Watercress soup. A very typical in the Canary Islands. Of course, accompany it with a tapa of island cheese and house wine.
Contact and hours
Asadero La Caldera does not accept reservations. Besides, On weekends it is a horror trying to get a table. You have to arrive before 13:15 pm if you don't want to wait in a long line. Added to the queues is that the place is quite noisy when it is full. Therefore, if you can choose to go during the week or order takeout by calling 928616140, better. The last time we went We paid €11 per person, so we could classify it within the cheap restaurants in Gran Canaria.
