Anfi del Mar, the Caribbean of Gran Canaria

05/05/2024 - Ruth González

amphi of the sea is a tourist area of the municipality of Mogán, in the on some island of Gran Canaria. The beach itself It is a draw for many visitors, so it is sometimes overcrowded. Being in a bay, the sea here is super calm making it a recommended beach for families. In addition, it has all the services: toilets, showers, hammocks, umbrellas, restaurant area and even all kinds of water activities. Its main characteristic is its white sand, brought from somewhere in the Caribbean.

Next to the beach there are also various stores, boutiques and a supermarket. Although Anfi is one of the beaches of Gran Canaria more crowded, does not mean that as a whole it has its attractions. Below we tell you everything you should see and do in Anfi del Mar.

What to do in Anfi del Mar, Gran Canaria

✔ Anfi del Mar Beach

For many, the Anfi beach Is one of the essential what to see in Gran Canaria. They love its turquoise water and white sand. On the beach you can do practically all types of water activities. That is, rent a jet ski, skates, standing up paddle, kayaking, parasailing, wakeboarding, banana... This alternative is ideal if you come to the island for a bachelor or bachelorette party to have a good time.

On the other hand, you should know that the beach It is also ideal for swimming, there are some buoys that will limit you how far you can go.

✔ The island of Maroa or island of heart

Maroa is a heart-shaped artificial island where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea. Access to the sea here is not accessible, as it is only via stairs. The water here is super clean. If you wear diving goggles, you can snorkel and enjoy the seabed in the area or simply go for a few laps.

✔ Beach Club Maroa

Inside Maroa Island, we find one of the beach clubs in Gran Canaria: the Maroa. This has a restaurant and area to have a drink. Here you can spend the day in the hammocks, have a drink or have breakfast, lunch or dinner in its à la carte restaurant. The food is quite delicious and the service is good. You can too bathe a few steps away on the stairs that we show you in the previous photo.

It is a site recommended for bachelorette parties in Gran Canaria, although the price of the restaurant is somewhat high compared to the average on the island, since it is in a very touristy area.

✔ Anfi del Mar swimming lane a Patalavaca, Mogan

If you like swimming in the sea, there is a 700 meter swimming lane that connects the beaches of Anfi del Mar and Patalavaca. It is delimited with buoys, so swimming is safe. You will find access to the lane on the shore of Anfi beach (the one closest to Patalavaca). We leave you a more illustrative photo.

✔ Boat excursion from Anfi

Inside Maroa Island There is a small dock where you can take a boat to Arguineguin o Puerto de Mogán and thus get to know the coast of the area (although it is not the most beautiful). There are two lines: Blue Bird Lines and Salmon Lines. Additionally, we recommend this activity for children.

Next to the Anfi marina there is a diving school with whom you can do a diving baptism or even dives with an instructor.

If you are in this area of Gran Canaria, you cannot miss one of the best sunsets in Gran Canaria since Arguineguin. This town is located near Anfi and can be reached on foot via two walks: one next to the sea that passes through the beaches of Aquamarine and Patalavaca and another that goes next to the road. It is approximately 3 kilometers to Arguineguín… Enjoy it!

Anfi del Mar hotels

The Anfi coast does not have a wide range of hotels, the complexes that surround it are multi-property. Which doesn't mean you can buy a few weeks here forever. These are Anfi Beach Club, Puerto Anfi, Monte Anfi and Gran Anfi. In any case, a few steps away is the Los Caideros and Aquamarina where you can rent a vacation home or even stay at the Radisson hotel. Below you can take a look at the available options.

Where to park in Anfi

To park at Anfi you have two options. At the top of the beach there is a dirt parking lot, but it is quite far away if you are loaded or with children. The best option is in the Monte Anfi hotel complex, which is covered and you can comfortably go down to the beach by an elevator.. The elevator is outside the parking lot, perhaps somewhat hidden, better ask the taxi drivers in the area where it is. Even if you are not staying at Anfi, you can park there. The two parking lots they are paid and they are not cheap.

Here we merge my academic training (Graduate and Master in Tourism) with his mountain experience (MTB) to show you the real Gran Canaria: trails, landscapes and local off-the-beaten-path gastronomy.

Besides being your hosts on the island, we share guides to our trips so you can plan your getaways with the confidence of Follow routes that are 100% validated by us.

If we're not traveling or "tasting" restaurants, look for us in the mountains with our fur babies, Silver and Plata.

Shall we discover (and devour) the world together?
