In this article we want to share with you one of the most beautiful corners of the north coast of Gran Canaria: The Roque Prieto pools. It is one of the few bathing areas of the municipality of Santa María de Guía, since it has only a few kilometers of coastline. Below we are going to give you all the details about this little paradise. Without a doubt, one of the best natural pools of Gran Canaria. Can you come with us?
Roque Prieto Pools, Gran Canaria
In Roque Prieto you will find two different natural pools with their corresponding breakwaters so that bathing is safe. You must bear in mind that This area of the Gran Canaria coast is quite dangerous. In fact, the other beach of Santa Maria de Guía, San Felipe (Vagabundo), has very strong waves and only local surfers dare to swim here.
In any case, thanks to the breakwaters, normally here the bathroom is safe, but keep in mind that here there is no surveillance, nor No type of service: toilets, showers, shops, restaurants, etc. However, to access one of the pools there is a ramp and also some stairs. Both entrances have a railing. We show it to you below.
Festivities of The Godmother, the Virgin of Carmen de Roque Prieto
Every year for the La Madrina festivities, the Virgin of Carmen is moved to the small cave of the Roque Prieto pools that we show you below.. Right on the way down to the pools we will find a space dedicated to the Virgin. This is where you rest on the eve of the holidays for the residents of Atalaya and other areas of Guía come to worship him.
How to get to the Roque Prieto pools in a Guide
The natural pools of Roque Prieto are located just a few minutes by car from the urban centers of Guía and Gáldar. To get there from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria you will have to cross the neighborhood of The Guide Watchtower.
We recommend you Combine your visit with other pools in the north of Gran Canaria such as El Agujero. There is a coastal road that links both pools which we love. A landscape full of banana trees with the Atlantic Ocean in the background. Look how wonderful.
