Las Palmas de GC route to the south of the island along the coast

07/01/2023 - Jorge Toledo Lopez

The route from Las Palmas to the south by MTB is one of the most legendary routes on the island, since it connects the capital of the island with Maspalomas. One of the most touristic areas of Gran Canaria.

From Firgas to the south by MTB

In this case we start the route from Las Palmas to Maspalomas by bike from Firgas, to Arucas. We continue along the mountain of Los Giles to reach Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – City Life, History & Island Vibes. Once in the city, we will ride along the Maritime Avenue bike path until its end at the sculpture of the Triton La Laja beach. At that point we will wind through Jinámar to connect with the roads that are on the coast of Telde. From here, we will link trails until we practically reach El Goro. Where we will pass near the precious Tufia beach by land.

Then we will cross the Gran Canaria airport and arrive at the Beach of El Burrero. Later we will continue advancing between the mills arinaga and Juan Grande for Dirt tracks and trails perfect for our MTB or Gravel Bike. Finally, already in Happy Bay, we will continue along more trails and we will practically be in the southern part of the island.

Video from Las Palmas to Maspalomas by bike

You will then be able to see the video that we have prepared of this route in case you would like to see the type of terrain that we are talking about. As we did the route from Firgas and it is more common to do it from Las Palmas de GC, you can use the same track, but take it already started. Likewise, You have to keep in mind that normally the wind goes south. Therefore, the return from the south to the north is usually harder due to the headwind. Luckily I had a driver to get back! 🙂

Remember We have more tracks to explore Gran Canaria by bike on your own. Take a look at all the routes below!
