Circular enduro route around Artenara

15/02/2021 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

This circular enduro route starts from the town of Artenara. If you arrive early, here you can park comfortably and buy food for the route in one of its supermarkets (watch out for schedules). Being a circular route, when you finish riding you can also eat in a restaurant in the area.

Circular enduro route to discover the mountains of Artenara

This circular enduro route passes through the two longest downhills in Artenara. It also goes through a third one, which even though it is shorter, is probably the most fun.

The route begins by climbing from the town of Artenara, probably the longest climb of the day to reach a height higher than Cruz de Tejeda. Here we can enjoy spectacular views of Roque Nublo and Tejeda. Here begins a downhill that can last between 15 and 40 minutes depending on the rhythm you go to. It’s a lot of fun, with some climbs and always with views.

Later, it connects by land with two of the enduro sections that were made in multiple editions of the Canary Islands Cup. Go through a technical area, without too much difficulty. The track goes through very fun areas of dirt and rock.

Views during the route

At the end of these two sections (it will probably take us about 20 more minutes), go up a beautiful road that borders the dams in the area (Los Pérez, Lugarejos, etc.) until you reach the town again. Here you have to deviate towards the last downhill of the day. As we said, it is shorter, but it is full of slope changes and technical curves that make it very entertaining.
