This circular enduro route starts from the town of Artenara. If you arrive early, here you can park comfortably and buy food for the route in one of its supermarkets (watch the schedules). As it is a circular route, when you finish pedaling you can also eat at a restaurant in the area.
Circular Enduro route to discover the Artenara mountains
This circular enduro route passes through the two longest descents from Artenara. It also goes through a third, which although shorter, is probably the most fun.
Distance | 30 km |
Total promotion/demotion | 1.597 m |
Estimated time | 3 / 5 hours |
Minimum drink | 1 l |
Minimal food | 500 Kcal |
Shops on the road | Si |
Technical level | Medium |
Recommended bike | Enduro/All Mountain |
The route begins by climbing from the town of Artenara, probably the longest climb of the day to reach a height greater than Cross of Tejeda. Here we can enjoy spectacular views of the The Roque Nublo y Tejeda. Here it starts a descent that can last between 15 and 40 minutes depending on the pace you go at. It is very fun, with some climbs and always with views.
Then It connects by land with two of the Enduro sections that were done in multiple editions of the Canary Islands Cup. Go through some technical area, without too much difficulty. The track passes between very fun areas of dirt and rock.
At the end of these two sections (it will probably take us about 20 more minutes), It goes up a beautiful road that borders the dams in the area (Los Pérez, Lugarejos, etc.) until we reach the town again. Here you have to detour towards the last descent of the day. As we said, It is shorter, but it is full of gradient changes and technical curves that make it very entertaining.

Hello,
First of all, I would like to say that I loved the page and that I wish this initiative existed everywhere.
Now the question: Let's go with some road friends to Puerto Rico few days. But there are two people who would like to go on a hard getaway. However, from what we have seen, almost all the good material is in the north of the island (the idea is to organize another 100% hard riding trip later with a base camp in that area hehe) But if we can get rid of the itch now with some of those routes that you have published and that fall a little further south…. Is there any that are more worth it? Or better we dedicate ourselves to lycra and the beach and we will recognize the terrain in the Durara getaway...??? (Keep in mind that traveling with road equipment is not the same as adding another suitcase with all your enduro gear…. 🙁)
Thank you

Hello Adriana! Thank you very much for your comment 🙂 we are glad to know that the information is useful to someone, it is a lot of work hehe
I tell you, we only have two enduro routes in the south, so you won't have much indecision hehe. They are the following two:
https://localguidegrancanaria.com/enduro-arguineguin-cortadores/
https://localguidegrancanaria.com/el-8-de-las-tederas/
Keep in mind that the north is more mountainous and greener, the routes in the south are more arid and you will find totally different landscapes. If you really want to, we encourage you to take the opportunity to see the contrasts of the southern and northern mountains next time.
Greetings and thanks to you 🙂
