In this article we are going to share with you a hiking route through the Rapador ravine and Barranquillo de Las Ánimas (Valleseco), within the Doramas Rural Park. It is a circular path that runs through one of the greenest areas of Gran Canaria where some species of the laurel forest. Below, we give you all the details so you can do this route hiking in Gran Canaria on your own.
Hiking through the Barranco del Rapador and the Barranquillo de Las Ánimas
As we said, the route runs mainly through the Rapador ravine and Barranquillo de Las Ánimas, in the municipality of Valleseco. We started it in the Valleseco Lagoon, because of the ease of parking that you will find here. In any case, as it is a circular route, you can start wherever suits you best. Likewise, we recommend follow the track to be able to link each of the trails, there are sections in which you will have to walk a few meters along the road.
Rapador Ravine, Doramas Rural Park
The first part of the route runs through the Rapador Ravine where you will walk under a leafy grove. This will cover you from possible drizzle, as well as the heat on warmer days. Along the along the path you will walk among enormous veroles and canarian bicacaros that you will be able to see in flower throughout the winter. Keep in mind that from the moment you leave La Laguna to El Rapador you will have to walk a few meters along a secondary road.
Barranquillo de Las Ánimas, Doramas Rural Park
The route we propose also passes through one of the most beautiful corners that Gran Canaria hides, the ravine of Las Ánimas. In this area of the island we will find laurel forest species such as viñátigo, laurels and some fayas. The ferns that surround the entire path also stand out. A beautiful trail that will inevitably leave you speechless.

Regarding the technical details, we can say that this hiking route through the Doramas Rural Park is intermediate level. We take to long two hours and a quarter in completing the 8,6 kilometers with many stops to record the route. It is important that you keep in mind that There are sections that we will have to pass by road to link the different trails, so be very careful.

On the other hand, it is important that you go prepared with enough warm clothing in the cooler months. We recorded it at the end of April and started the walk with a jacket. Other months of the year we have even spent here wearing thermal shirts because of the humidity. Note that Valleseco Lagoon is almost 900 meters above sea level. Where to eat on the route?
To eat, you can organize a picnic or barbecue at Laguna de Valleseco after the walk or, like we did, go to have breakfast at the Niebla Cider House in Valleseco. We had already come for lunch as we told you in the circular from Valleseco to Valsendero, but we had yet to try their breakfasts (from another planet). We recommend the Gran Valle toast with organic pumpkin bread, avocado, Canarian cheese, Iberian ham and egg. His rib sandwich and homemade cakes were also super delicious. Important: breakfast is available until 12:00 and only open from Friday to Sunday.
