Taliarte pier is a coastal area in the municipality of Telde, in the west of Gran Canaria. Here there is a small fishing pier, a lighthouse and also the Taliarte pond where you can take a dip. This spot has something special that you can’t miss and we are going to tell you about it in the following lines. Let’s go!
Taliarte pier, Gran Canaria
For sun and sea lovers, next to the Taliarte pier there is a swimming area with stairs to access the water, as well as some tatamis for sunbathing. The water here is quite clear, so if you like snorkelling, bring your goggles!
In the same way, many take advantage of the calm waters to paddle surf and kayak. On the other hand, this area is known by many swimmers, as from here starts an open water swimming channel of 1000 metres that goes all the way to Salinetas beach.
You can also walk from the pier to Melenara beach and even to Salinetas beach along a pleasant avenue. On this avenue you will find a wide range of restaurants and cafés, although in the following lines we will tell you where we usually eat.
As we said at the beginning, this is also home to one of the lighthouses that lights up the coast of Gran Canaria and one of the most important fishing docks on the island. That is why next to this port we find the restaurant of the Cofradía de Pescadores (Fishermen’s Guild). As we see it, one of the best places to eat fish in Gran Canaria.
Taliarte Fishermen’s Guild
On the other hand, one of the best things to do on this part of the Telde’s coast is to eat good fresh fish and Canarian food at the Cofradía de Pescadores de Taliarte. Here we love the way they prepare the fried fish. The batter is made with chickpea flour and is simply spectacular. You must try the local fish, both the parrot fish or vieja and the splendid alfonsino or fula.
In this restaurant we also love the fried moray eel, the tuna belly salad, the octopus and the fried squid. A must on the island. If you have a sweet tooth, leave room for dessert, because the polvito is delicious. And if you like tocinillo de cielo, they prepare a spectacular one with yoghurt.
Holiday homes in Taliarte pier and surroundings
On the other hand, if you don’t know which are the best places to stay in Gran Canaria, we think that Taliarte is highly recommended for a few days holiday. It has spectacular holiday homes such as the well-known Taliarte Lighthouse, it is easy to park and is well connected to the south and north of the island.
