Casa Josefina Restaurant, try their delicious baked leg of lamb

01/02/2023 - Ruth González

In this post we would like to talk to you about the Casa Josefina restaurant. A place to eat where we would take our friends visiting Gran Canaria. This Canarian restaurant specializes in leg of lamb. On their menu they also have salad, cheese, croquettes, squid, etc. but you can't come here and not try the leg of lamb. It's like going to a hamburger restaurant and ordering a salad. We tell you everything below!

Casa Josefina Restaurant

As soon as you arrive you will realize that The Casa Josefina restaurant is very authentic and totally frequented by clientele residing in Gran Canaria. Very few tourists know it. You will see in their decoration that they have several tiles with funny phrases, as well as various hanging gadgets, plants, etc. It is a battle site where they serve you in a matter of minutes from when you order. If you want to have an after-dinner meal, it's not your place. If you want to eat well and try their lamb, keep reading!

La They bake lamb leg in the oven and accompany it with natural fries, It's delicious. A leg of lamb for two people is too much, but it doesn't matter, don't miss out on trying it. Whatever you have left, they prepare it for you to take away. The ideal is to ask for it share between four people, so you can try other dishes that make delicious like chickpea and squid. To start they always ask if you want Canarian soft cheese with bread and aioli.

As for dessert, we recommend you try the gofio mousse. The gofio, that basic food for canaries made from ground cereals that we have talked about in our article on canarian food. By the way, if you want to know how it is made, we share a easy gofio mousse recipe on the blog. In the same way, if you are going to drink coffee, in the Canary Islands we usually drink it with normal milk and also condensed milk and we call it «milk and milk«.

Currently (2023), The portion of leg of lamb is €42 and you will hardly be able to finish it if only two people go. So we do not recommend ordering starters if you are going as a couple (unless you don't mind taking a tuper of lamb home). Josefina House It is in the El Zardo neighborhood, Municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – City Life, History & Island Vibes. If you want to get a table and not have to wait (especially on Saturdays and Sundays) try to go at 13:00 p.m. The rest of the days of the week, unless it is a holiday, there is usually no problem. Below you can see their schedules, telephone and location on Google.

About Ruth González

Hello! I am RuthTourism expert, Canary Islander and traveler. Although I write, Local Guide Gran Canaria has two engines: Jorge (my partner) and I.

Here we merge my academic training (Graduate and Master in Tourism) with his mountain experience (MTB) to show you the real Gran Canaria: trails, landscapes and local off-the-beaten-path gastronomy.

Besides being your hosts on the island, we share guides to our trips so you can plan your getaways with the confidence of Follow routes that are 100% validated by us.

If we're not traveling or "tasting" restaurants, look for us in the mountains with our fur babies, Silver and Plata.

Shall we discover (and devour) the world together?

All the food is very good and natural, like their fries, bread and soft cheese, all very homemade!!!
The Saharan squid, the pork meat and the croquettes are all very delicious, although the special dish is the leg of lamb!!
Don't forget their variety of homemade desserts and excellent service!
I recommend it because they follow the covid-19 protocol to the letter, in every way!!
