This circular route of Happy Bay Aldea Blanca, in the south of Gran Canaria, is perfect for getting started with Gravel Bikes or Mountain bikes in the south of the island of Gran Canaria. The route has little gradient and there are hardly any significant climbs. On the other hand, technically it only has a short stone descent that can perfectly be done on foot, through the Aldea Blanca area.
Being a circular route, you could do it in both directions. Of course, keep in mind that the most normal thing is for the wind to blow from North to south. In our case, we start the route through the interior of the highway, enduring the headwind. The positive thing is that due to the orography of the mountains, if we take the route in this direction, we will be buffeted by the wind at various times.
Characteristics of the Bahía Feliz Circular route by MTB or Gravel

What places will I see during the route?
The first part runs along desert roads near a cement factory until we reach Aldea Blanca among tomato trees. We will pass near a racecourse and a wind turbine plant that ends in the sea. We will also see a motocross circuit where there are usually people on weekends. We will see a seabird reserve and an abandoned salt mine near the town of Castillo del Romeral. Finally we will border several beaches of shut up or bowling.
Although you can do the route at any time, if you manage to square the area of The Romeral Castle With the sunset, you can see some beautiful views while you pedal.
How much food and water do I need to bring?
We will not really pass through any "urban center", but we will have the towns of Aldea Blanca and Castillo del Romeral halfway along the route in case we have an emergency. Possibly with 750ml of water and 400 kcal of food is enough, but it is always interesting to carry something else just in case.
With what type of bike can I make the circular trip from Bahía Feliz to Aldea Blanca?
You can go perfectly with a Gravel Bike. They are possibly the most suitable along with hardtail XC MTBs to undertake this route, since almost everything runs along trails of no technical difficulty without much unevenness.
