If you are looking for surfing in Gran Canaria, we are here to help you. First of all, you should know that the area of the island that we most recommend for surfing is in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In the south there are not that nice conditions in the waves and, being a tourist area, prices can be more expensive. Therefore, the ideal is that you try surfing in Las Canteras, that is, in a 100% local environment and where there are practically waves 365 days a year. Of course, if it is your first time on the island, surfing in Las Canteras means surfing in La Cicer and in the next few lines we are going to tell you why. Join us!

Surfing Gran Canaria & Las Palmas surf
As we were saying, if you are interested in doing this activity in Gran Canaria, the ideal is to do it on Las Canteras beach. It is where most of the residents surf and where the surf schools are concentrated. Please note that along Las Canteras you can only surf at La Cícer. And this why? Well, because part of the beach is protected by a volcanic barrier known as La Barra. La Barra acts as a barrier and stops the waves on the rest of the beach.

✔ Surf in Las Palmas (La Cícer) for beginners & surf camp Gran Canaria
If you have never done this sport and you are looking for a surf school to take one or several lessons, you should know that there are several surf schools in Gran Canaria from which you will be able to choose. Mainly, we highlight Mojo Surf, 3RJ Surf Time, Oceanside Gran Canaria, Brisa School, Dreamsea Surf Camp, among others. Many of these schools offer different types of courses. From a single lesson, to courses of several days, courses of improvement of the technique, paddle surf, surf camps for children, etc.

✔ Maspalomas surf
Another place where you can surf in Gran Canaria and, in turn, receive lessons is on Maspalomas beach. Here there are also several schools among which we highlight Canary Wave, Pro Surfing and Surf Maspalomas.

Paddle surfing in Gran Canaria
✔ SUP or Paddle Surfing in Las Palmas
As far as paddle surfing in Gran Canaria is concerned, if you want to go on a trip, we also recommend Las Canteras beach. Right in the part that is protected by La Barra and where we told you before that there are no waves. You can do a paddle surf route from La Puntilla until before La Cicer starts. Almost all the surf schools that we named at the beginning rent boards to paddle on your own and even organize routes.

✔ SUP or paddle surfing in Maspalomas
In the south of Gran Canaria, mainly on the beaches of Puerto Rico and Anfi del Mar, you will also be able to rent boards to make a SUP (standing up paddle) trip on your own. Even on the beach of Las Marañuelas in Arguineguín as we show you below with the company SUP Gran Canaria.
