In this post we want to share with you a Gravel Bike route through Gáldar, Sardinia del Norte y Agaete in northern Gran Canaria.
Gravel Bike Route Gáldar, Sardina del Norte and Agaete.
We start it in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital of the island. But really the most interesting area, of land, begins in Gáldar. So if you wanted to go by car to this northern town, you would only skip the highway and the road that leaves from Bañaderos. Which passes through the emblematic Cenobio de Valeron. A very well preserved Aboriginal "construction" of tourist interest.
You have to keep in mind that there is a loop in the track before you get to Gáldar which has no exit. It has nice views towards Las Palmas de GC, but if you are short on time, skip it and go straight towards Gáldar. Once there, you will enter through a stone ravine that ends in the sea. And from that point you will go through different points of interest: Caleta de Abajo, Sardina Lighthouse, Sardina del Norte and some smaller towns.
Recharge your strength in Sardina del Norte
In Sardina del Norte you can "refuel" with water and food, since there is a small supermarket. You will need it, since after this we will enter more inhospitable terrain. Without passing through any town until you reach Agaete. We went through two "complicated" descents for a Gravel Bike or mountain bike. And after them, we will have to carry our bikes to get out of the two ravines. The end of the route brings us closer to Las Nieves Port, in Agaete. Just passing by Las Salinas natural pools, very nice.
If you do not know where to eat in Agaete, we recommend a light meal in the sandwich inn to return to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Normally the return route is usually with a headwind, so if you have time, we recommend returning along a secondary road (like we did) it can save you some effort, even if it takes longer.
