In this article we talk to you about the Taurus beach, in the south of Gran Canaria. Until recently, it was popular for having two bars on the beachfront (Pio Pio and Vistamar), but they have already closed. The beach is located in the tourist municipality of Mogán. You should know that the beach of Taurus was shut up or pebbles and in 2021 a work was approved to add sand from another beach... Below, we give you more information about this beach in case you would like to visit it during your trip to Gran Canaria.
Tauro Beach, Gran Canaria
Taurus is a true haven of peace for those who seek a quieter space away from the crowds. This beach of fine golden sand and its calm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, even many sailboats anchor here. Tauro is not as busy as other nearby beaches, since it barely has services: It is not accessible, nor does it have showers, public bathrooms, etc As we told you, this beach used to be made of stones. Here is a photo of an area that they have left intact. Behind we see the tourist complexes of the El Cura beach.
Get to the Taurus Beach It's not that complicated, but it's true that On weekends access to the beach itself can be complicated. As for Tauro beach itself, it is not one of the most beautiful on the island. But, out of preference, we would choose this beach long before the Mogan beach or of Puerto Rico. Definitely, a perfect corner for those looking to combine relaxation, nature and comfort on their days of sun and sea.
Very close is also the well-known Taurus Blowhole where Locals usually go for a dip and visit its caves. Much care if you don't know the area and come to swim here.
Pio Pio Bar and Vistamar Restaurant
Regrettably, The Pio Pio bar in Tauro closed in January 2023, apparently due to non-payments. Next door was the Vistamar restaurant which apparently is also closed now. Therefore, the only thing left to do is take the sandwich if you want to eat on this beach in Gran Canaria.
