The Guachinche Viña Cantera restaurant in Valsequillo is one of the few guachinches that we have in Gran Canaria. It is a Canarian food house in which they have wine produced and made by themselves. The farm has around 50,000 m2 and here they have planted more than twelve thousand grape vines, among which the listán negro, castellana, tintilla, malvasía, among others stand out.
In addition, within their menu they include products from their farm, as well as from the entire island. The environment in which it is located is totally rural, since it is surrounded by plantations of strawberries, potatoes and fruit trees. Here we give you more details so, keep reading!
Guachinche Viña Cantera restaurant, local food in Valsequillo
As you know, we love to value authentic places and the Guachinche Viña Cantera restaurant is undoubtedly a Canarian food place that should be among your options in Gran Canaria. We want to highlight the homemade bread that they make with prickly pear (you can see it in the previous photo). You will love it! In addition, here you can try the famous Valsequillo cheeses, a potato omelette with Valsequillo avocado and the yummy organic strawberries from the La Palma organic farm as a dessert. That is, here you will find KM0 products, since the strawberry plantations are right next to the Guachinche.
On the other hand, they also have the typical Canarian dishes such as potatoes with mojo, gofio escaldao and local olives, which they also grow and marinate. We have tried here the chickpea, the tomatoes with Valsequillo avocados, the potato omelette with avocado and grilled meat for two (we were four). As you can see, the portions are very generous. We could not finish the grilled meat, the fault was the bread because it was so delicious hehe
Finally, for dessert you can enjoy the strawberries from the neighboring farm, the organic farm La Palma. Although you should not miss trying their homemade Catalan cream and their artisan gofio, almond and coffee ice creams that are accompanied by papaya and sponge cake.
Opening hours and reservations
The guachinche is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 pm and has an indoor dining room, as well as an outdoor terrace with views of the Valsequillo mountains and the farm. Part of the terrace is covered, so don’t let it stop you from visiting this place on a cold or rainy day. We recommend you call and book in advance, especially if you go on the weekend.
In the previous photo we see some of their outdoor tables and then you can see their indoor dining room with the farm products they have for sale.
Guachinche is surrounded by strawberry plantations like the one we see below.
How to get there
El Guachinche is somewhat hidden, so we recommend you follow the directions on Google maps that we show you below. This is the exact location, next to the strawberry plantations of Finca La Palma that we showed you before.
