We had heard wonders of the Los Almácigos de Guayedra restaurant, both its surroundings and its cuisine. And, affirmatively, here you can enjoy a spectacular day with views of the Guayedra ravine and its mountains, as well as try unique dishes.

And what is a seedbed? It is a tree native to the Canary Islands and Africa. which can measure up to 15 meters. Also, in the seedbeds the gardeners sow the seeds so that sprouts emerge that they later transplant to the garden. With this brushstroke, you can imagine what the experience to enjoy in this restaurant will be like. We tell you everything in the following lines.
Los Almácigos Restaurant
First, as an appetizer we tried the Baba Ganoush with papadums. Papadum is a fried bread made with lentil flour. It is original from India. Very delicious and ideal to replace with the typical bread with butter or aioli.
We also tested the black pork dumplings. In case you didn't know, the black pig is a native breed of the Canary Islands and there are few places in Gran Canaria where you can consume it. The Guayedra seedbeds are one of them. The empanadas were delicious too.
The last dish we ordered to share was the Fried rabbit with salmorejo aioli and Canarian potato. They coat the rabbit with rice flour and it gives it a different touch. Brutal, it has been a long time since a dish surprised us so much. In addition, the portion was filling.
For the main course we decided on a paella for each of us. The curious thing is that the black one was not rice, but black soft wheat with squid. Highly recommended. The other Rice was black pork with chorizo. It wasn't bad, however, for the powerful ingredients it contained, it was somewhat bland. We decided without a doubt on the black wheat and the fried rabbit.
Finally, we did not want to leave Los Almácigos de Guayedra without trying some of their desserts. We opted for the Guayedra pumpkin sweet with passion fruit granita. Very good too.
Prices and menu Los Almácigos
Their menu is quite varied and, as you can read below, They introduce ingredients from the Canary Islands and even grown in the Guayedra ravine itself.
We pay €30 per person with 3 starters, two main dishes, two glasses of wine, 1 dessert and 1 coffee. It is not cheap, nor expensive, since we ate a lot and the quality and exclusivity of the raw material was unmatched.
Contact and reservations
As we said at the beginning, the restaurant is located in the Guayedra ravine. Specifically, on the main road of Agaete - The village at kilometer 5. As the place is becoming quite fashionable, We recommend that you book before you go, especially since there is nothing else around and, if it is full, you will have missed the trip. The contact telephone number is 683657982 and they are open from Wednesday to Sunday from 12:30 to 19:00. There is a fairly large dirt parking lot for its clients and even, at least when we went, a man greets you and asks if you have a reservation as soon as you arrive. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
