La Caldera restaurant is one of our favorites in terms of local food in Gran Canaria. Their dishes are delicious and, besides, it’s cheap. It stands out for its specialty in grilled meats and, of course, for its pork ribs boiled with corn (maize cob). In few places on the island you can try this typical Canarian dish. Anyway, it is not their only delicatessen, we love their mushroom and spinach croquettes. Not to mention their watercress stew!

La Caldera restaurant, Canarian food in a local environment
The restaurant La Caldera is in the municipality of Firgas, in a small neighborhood of the same name. It is just 5 minutes by car from the urban centers of Firgas and Arucas. So what if you plan to visit one of these two towns, it is a great option to eat!

As we said at the beginning, in La Caldera you can not miss the boiled pork ribs that comes with corn and potatoes. Also, they cook delicious pork ribs, as well as other very tasty grilled meats. In the same way, both their mushroom and spinach croquettes are unique.

If you also like the spoon dishes, you have to try the watercress stew. A very typical dish of the Canary Islands. Of course, accompany it with a local cheese tapa and the house wine.

Contact and opening hours
Asadero La Caldera does not accept reservations. Also, on weekends it is a horror trying to get a table. You have to arrive before 1:15 pm if you don’t want to wait in a long queue. In addition to the queues, the place is quite noisy when it is full. Therefore, if you can choose to go during the week or order take away by calling +34928616140, much better. The last time we went we paid ā¬11 per person, so we could classify it among the cheap restaurants in Gran Canaria.
