El Arrosar restaurant, the best paellas of Gran Canaria

25/06/2021 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

If we had to make a list of the best restaurants in Gran Canaria, El Arrosar restaurant would be on it for sure. We love rice dishes and in this restaurant they make the most delicious in Gran Canaria, on the same level as the Valencians. We have been going for more than 20 years and they have hardly changed their menu. And so it continues! Here we give you more information about this essential gastronomic stop in Las Palmas city.

El Arrosar restaurant

Its dishes are presented in a traditional way without great creations or special presentations, but by using high-quality raw materials, you will be able to perfectly feel the flavor of each of its ingredients. In addition to the 16 types of rice they offer on their menu, they have dishes closely linked to the Canary Islands and other areas of Spain such as Galicia. That is, it has practically all the Spanish delicacies in its menu. That is to say, good Iberian ham, good fish and seafood, good meat, good rice dishes, great cellar and good desserts. Next, we make our recommendations:

✔ Starters

Fried anchovies, grilled lobster, grilled baby cuttlefish, Galician pie and Galician octopus.

✔ Main courses

Black rice (below) and leek and cuttlefish rice (above). Both served with a home made alioli. If you are more than 4 people, you can order rice for two from each type.

✔ Desserts

Lemon pie, tocino de cielo, Santiago pie, papaya with orange and Peña de La Vieja ice-creams.

Price

The rices themselves are not expensive, in fact we recommend that if there are 4 people, always ask for a portion for three. With this you will pay about € 15 per person for the rice course, depending on which you order. In any case, if you order seafood starters or Iberian ham, the price per person will go up considerably. For example, grilled lobster costs around € 30. If we add a good wine and desserts, the price can be around € 40 per person, but it’s worth it!

As you can see, the place is very traditional, both in the uniformity of the waiters, as in its decoration. They use table linen and they have a very good quality service.

Opening hours and contact El Arrosar restaurant

El Arrosar restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sundays and holidays they also open, but only from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you go on a weekend or bank holiday, it is always advisable to book. We leave here the contact telephone number: +34928272645. They are in 10, Salvador Cuyás St., a few meters from Las Canteras beach. If this restaurant had a terrace overlooking one of the best urban beaches in Europe, it would be idyllic. However, you can have a nice walk through the promenade after your rice.
