As we already told you in the article about the best restaurants in Las Canteras, Bodega Extremeña is one of our favorites. It is a tavern that stands out for its Iberian hams and sausages, although Its select and wide offer will surprise you. In "El Extremadura" the tables are barrels and the chairs are stools. One of the best places in the capital to have a bite to eat and have a good time next to the playa de Las Canteras. Highly recommended to go with friends because of the good atmosphere.
If you go in a group, if it is not cold, the ideal is that you try to go early or reserve a table on the terrace, which are normal tables and chairs. Below we mention our favorite dishes.
Extremadura Winery: star dishes
We have several favorite dishes We try to vary it, since everything is delicious. Mainly, we recommend you order the following dishes to snack on: salad avocado, tomato and belly belly, the foie montadito with Iberian ham, the broad beans with ham, the cheeks and the dust Extremadura. It is also a classic su potato omelette and any charcuterie board. You can order the tortilla with sausages or onion.
The cheeks in sauce They make them super tender and come accompanied by rice and potatoes. Probably one of the best we have tried. There aren't many places on the island that offer this dish either.
Likewise, we want to highlight the great variety of montaditos that they have on their menu: a total of 18. Our favorite is Gran Reserva ham and foie. You also have the Casar cake, which is a fairly strong cheese from Extremadura. They call it their “Extremaduran delicacy.”
Something very typical in peninsular Spain are broad beans with tacos of Iberian ham and garlic and at the Extremadura Winery you can order them. Spectacular.
Finally, here you can undoubtedly try one of the best Uruguayan powders from the island. This dessert has spread quite a bit in Gran Canaria and in the Extremadura Winery they have baptized it as «Extremaduran dust«. You have to try it. It is mainly made with Maria type cookies, dulce de leche, cream, butter and sighs (meringue).
Finally, As a courtesy of the Extremeña Winery, they always invite you to a delicious acorn liqueur. It's pretty soft.
