Arguineguín too preserve the tradition of fishing and has a small fishing port, being one of the main ones in the south of Gran Canaria. In fact, it has its own fishing brotherhood where you can try fish from the island's coast.
In the same way, colonies of Norwegians and Swedes have settled in this area of the island and are already perfectly integrated with the natives. And it is normal that they have changed their place of residence, the climate of Arguineguín is very similar to that of Puerto de Mogán. That is, Guaranteed sun practically every day of the year. We leave you with one of the sunsets from the main beach of the town, The Marañuelas.

Arguineguín Beaches
✔ Las Marañuelas Beach
In Arguineguín we recommend two beaches where you can swim and enjoy the sunset. In addition to Las Marañuelas there is a kind of natural pool with sea water that have recently been conditioned. Is called La Lajilla Beach and it has a nice promenade, hammocks, umbrellas, footbaths and sand to lie on. Both beaches are quiet, since the pier makes the waves minimal.
If you like the paddle surfing, This beach has very good conditions to practice this type of surfing in Gran Canaria.
✔ La Lajilla Beach or Costa Alegre
As you can see in the first photo, it is the same point where the photo of the sunset on Las Marañuelas beach. The same goes for the pool or La Lajilla beach which we show you below. La Lajilla is also known as Costa Alegre and is one of the few natural pools in Gran Canaria south (with sea water).
The two beaches are quite local and not crowded, so we invite you to visit them at least to enjoy one of the best sunsets in Gran Canaria.
✔ Perchel Pool
La Perchel natural pool, well more like a saltwater pool, was inaugurated in September 2022. It is around 300 meters long and is ideal for families because it does not have much depth (maximum 140m), in addition, access to the bathroom is comfortable via stairs. Of course, it is not accessible for people with reduced mobility, since there are no ramps. Has bathrooms, hammock service, beach bar nearby and playground. It is right next to Perchel beach, also recently rehabilitated.
✔ Arguineguín beach or Perchel beach
This is the least touristy and is found going from the port of Arguineguín to The Haystack. Being closer to the cement plant, it has less traffic. In addition, there are quite a few stones and rocks on the shore, although they have recently put a direct access staircase to the sea. Likewise, they recently inaugurated a beach bar, La Chirina, which is becoming fashionable. She has a hammock area, a playground and goals to play soccer. Also footbaths and public toilets.
✔ Promenade
There is a nice walk that connects the neighborhoods of Arguineguín, Patalavaca y amphi of the sea. The promenade next to the sea is not in perfect condition, but it is worth it, as it runs along the coast from Arguineguín to Anfi del Mar. This last beach is artificial (sand brought from the Caribbean) and, at the same time, one of the most touristy in Gran Canaria. In any case, it is ideal to go with family, for its calm waters and also has all kinds of services nearby. If you want to know what are the best beaches in Gran CanariaIn our humble opinion, visit our post with the top 10.
As you can see in the photos above and below, there are two different routes to go from Arguineguín to Patalavaca and Anfi del mar. The one located in the upper part next to the road and that has exercise machines and the one that goes next to the sea. From both you can appreciate the sunset. However, if you are with a baby stroller or have reduced mobility, we do not recommend the one next to the sea, as it is not well paved and even has some holes.
Finally, we invite you to visit the beach of Saint Agatha in El Pajar, which although it belongs to the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, can be reached on foot and has delicious food. In addition, they have recently put together a pretty cool walk that leads to the cement factory.
✔ Market
In addition, The Arguineguín market is held every Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. Here you can find local products, as well as crafts, clothing, accessories, etc. However, this is one of the most touristy.
