In this post we mention the best viewpoints in Gran Canaria from our point of view. From these sites of the island you will be able to appreciate each of the contrasts of Gran Canaria. Let’s tell you about them all!
The best viewpoints of Gran Canaria
Here are the 19 most spectacular viewpoints on the island. Gran Canaria is full of different landscapes… You’ll be amazed! On the other hand, after this list, we mention some viewpoints in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to have the best views of the capital.
1. Corazón de Jesús viewpoint, Artenara
Despite its beauty, this viewpoint located in the town of Artenara is very little known. To get there, you have to go up a path with stairs bordering the La Cilla restaurant-cave, where there is another viewpoint. However, the views from the Christ are better, since they are 360 degrees.
2. Azuaje ravine, one of the greenest viewpoints in Gran Canaria
3. Pico de Las Nieves viewpoint, Tejeda
From this point you can have a beautiful panoramic view of the Roque Nublo, its surroundings, as well as El Teide peak (if the day is clear). There are many trails in the area as the one to the instagrammable Gañifa Window. Go for a walk!
4. El Parralillo dam, Tejeda
If we drive from Tejeda towards La Aldea de San Nicolás we find the Parralillo Dam. This road is spectacular for the landscape it offers, especially when the dam carries water. Next to the viewpoint we find a mill like the one we see below.
5. Los Poetas viewpoint, Artenara
This one is not so easy to find. We recommend that you ask the locals how to get there once in Artenara.
6. Andén Verde viewpoint, La Aldea de San Nicolás
It is also known as Mirador del Balcón or El Paso Marinero. From here you will be able to appreciate the well-known “dragon’s tail” that resembles the coastal landscape. It is located on the road between La Aldea de San Nicolás and Agaete, arriving at La Aldea. You will see the detour Andén Verde on the road.
7. La Sorrueda viewpoint, Santa Lucía de Tirajana
La Sorrueda is one of our favorite landscapes on the island. An oasis in the interior of Gran Canaria surrounded by Canarian palm groves. The most impressive thing is to see the majesty of the mountains, the dam with its large rock in the middle and the mix of flora that surrounds the dam. It is a very quiet area and ideal to relax. Just a short drive away is the delicious restaurant El Alpendre.
8. Roque Nublo Natural Monument, Tejeda
Roque Nublo is one of the highest points on the island. That is why from here you can have one of the best views of the heart of Gran Canaria. Its pine forest and neighboring villages. Also Tenerife if the weather is good. You have in our blog all the information about how to get to Roque Nublo by the shortest trail.
9. Degollada de Las Yeguas, viewpoints in Gran Canaria to see the stars
To get to this point it is best to go from Maspalomas towards Fataga direction the interior of Gran Canaria. You will find this lookout on the way. From here you can see on one side the sea and Dunes of Maspalomas and on the other side the mountains of Gran Canaria. The landscape will remind somehow to the famous North American canyons.
10. Unamuno, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Gran Canaria
We know we have already mentioned a few viewpoints in Artenara, but each one has something special. This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Gran Canaria. Both for the views and for honouring the poet Unamuno.
11. Maspalomas Dunes viewpoint, San Bartolomé de Tirajana
If we enter the RIU Palace Maspalomas hotel and walk to the bottom, towards the sea, we will arrive at this viewpoint. From here you will have a panoramic view of the Dunes and the Maspalomas beach. If this is your first time on the island, take a look at our article with the best things to do in Maspalomas.
12. Llanos de La Mimbre, one of the most impressive viewpoints on Gran Canaria
In the Natural Park of Tamadaba there is a hidden viewpoint with amazing views to Tenerife, Puerto de Las Nieves and the northern coast. This is the Llanos de La Mimbre viewpoint, one of the most remote on the island.
13. Pico de Bandama viewpoint, Santa Brígida
It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Gran Canaria. From here you can see the entire Caldera de Bandama in the municipality of Santa Brígida. We encourage you to go around it with a circular hiking route by clicking on the link above.
14. Montaña Alta viewpoint, Santa María de Guía
For a 360º view of the greenest mountains of Gran Canaria, we recommend the viewpoint of Montaña Alta in Santa María de Guía. From here you will have panoramic views of pastures such as the famous Monte Pavón, as well as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and even the mountain of Gáldar. We have a post about one of the best hiking routes in Gran Canaria through this area of the island, which you can discover in the article about Montaña Alta and Monte Pavón.
We know that we are leaving behind viewpoints such as that of Pinos de Gáldar, La Cilla, El Atlante, Tufia beach, that of El Pescador in Caleta, etc. But here we mention the 14 that we like the most. Do you know them? Leave us a comment mentioning the ones you’ve already been 🙂
The best viewpoints in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
On the other hand, if you are looking for the best viewpoints in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with views of the city, Las Canteras beach and other places of interest, take note of the following five.
15. Las Coloradas, viewpoints in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to enjoy the sunset
This viewpoint in Las Coloradas is one of our favourites in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for its views of the Confital, the peak of La Atalaya and El Teide. Moreover, the sun sets right here and you can enjoy magical sunsets.
In Las Coloradas there are about two areas or viewpoints to visit. You have the one above and the one shown in the following photo, both very close to each other.
16. Altavista viewpoint, one of the most beautiful in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
From this viewpoint you will have views of the entire capital, especially the port area. You can even see the sea on both sides of the city. There are several benches here, some of which are even deckchairs, where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are other viewpoints in this area of the capital such as Cittá Di Martinsicuro, but we like Altavista the best.
17. El Cardón, viewpoints in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with views to Las Canteras
Another viewpoint in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that we love is the Cardón viewpoint with a unique panoramic view of Las Canteras Beach. However, be aware that it is in the industrial area of Las Torres and its surroundings are not very clean. Please keep Gran Canaria clean!
18. El Atlante
You also have very good views of Las Canteras from El Atlante. There used to be a bar here but it is currently closed. In the meantime, we recommend a walk from the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium to this viewpoint overlooking one of the best beaches in Gran Canaria and Las Coloradas.
19. Los Giles, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
It is not a viewpoint as such, but from here you will have a unique panoramic view of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the bay of Las Canteras beach as a protagonist. To get there, you’ll have to enter the village of Los Giles in your navigator and walk a little overland.
Finally, if this is your first time in the capital, we encourage you to discover everything there is to see and do in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in our city guide article.
