The best viewpoints of Gran Canaria

Below we list the 15 most spectacular viewpoints on the island. Gran Canaria is full of different type of landscapes… you are going to be amazed!

1. Corazón de Jesús viewpoint, Artenara

Despite its beauty, this viewpoint located in the town of Artenara is very little known. To get there, you have to go up a path with stairs bordering the La Cilla restaurant-cave, where there is another viewpoint. However, the views from the Christ are better, since they are 360 degrees.

It is one of the few ravines in Gran Canaria that remain green all year round. It is found by descending a path from the town of Firgas to the Azuaje ravine or vice versa.

4. El Parralillo dam, Tejeda

If we drive from Tejeda towards La Aldea de San Nicolás we find the Parralillo Dam. This road is spectacular for the landscape it offers, especially when the dam carries water. Next to the viewpoint we find a mill like the one we see below.

5. Los Poetas viewpoint, Artenara

This one is not so easy to find. We recommend that you ask the locals how to get there once in Artenara.

6. Andén Verde viewpoint, La Aldea de San Nicolás

It is also known as Mirador del Balcón or El Paso Marinero. From here you will be able to appreciate the well-known “dragon’s tail” that resembles the coastal landscape. It is located on the road between La Aldea de San Nicolás and Agaete, arriving at La Aldea. You will see the detour Andén Verde on the road.

7. La Sorrueda viewpoint, Santa Lucía de Tirajana

La Sorrueda is one of our favorite landscapes on the island. An oasis in the interior of Gran Canaria surrounded by Canarian palm groves. The most impressive thing is to see the majesty of the mountains, the dam with its large rock in the middle and the mix of flora that surrounds the dam. It is a very quiet area and ideal to relax. Just a short drive away is the delicious restaurant El Alpendre.

8. Roque Nublo Natural Monument, Tejeda

Roque Nublo is one of the highest points on the island. That is why from here you can have one of the best views of the heart of Gran Canaria. Its pine forest and neighboring villages. Also Tenerife if the weather is good. You have in our blog all the information about how to get to Roque Nublo by the shortest trail.

From here you can see on one side the sea and Dunes of Maspalomas and on the other side the mountains of Gran Canaria. The landscape will remind somehow to the famous North American canyons.
