Since last October 15, 2020, smoking has been prohibited on the beaches of Gáldar. Good news for Gran Canaria, its coastline and its inhabitants! As you may know, the coast of Gáldar and its seabed are spectacular. Even beaches like Sardina have the Blue Flag. Thanks to measures like this, the cigarette butts will not end up in the sea and, at the same time, healthy habits are promoted.
Smoking prohibited on the beaches of Gáldar
This prohibition of smoking tobacco also includes vapers and applies both to bathing areas, as well as to those of the sand or rocks of the beach or natural pool. Therefore, from the date on, anyone who smokes on a beach or natural pool may be fined.
In addition, the City Council of Gáldar made the people of Gáldar participate in this decision by submitting them to a popular vote. The results showed that 90% of those surveyed voted in favor of a ban on smoking on beaches and natural pools. Therefore, it was subsequently brought to a plenary session to include this proposal, also voted in favor by all the political groups in this municipal term.
