In this post we want to tell you about the best sandwiches in Gran Canaria. In Spain and, therefore, in the Canary Islands, the sandwich is part of our day to day, whether for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner. On the island there are many places where you can eat a good sandwich: cafes, bars, juice bars, gas stations and even in any supermarket. In addition, each region of Spain can have its specialty of sandwiches, for example, the campero from Malaga, the serranito from Seville or the mythical from sobrasada of Mallorca.

In the case of Gran Canaria, roasted pork leg sandwiches, as well as the ones of chorizo from Teror are the best known. However, there are cafes where they serve you delicious calamari sandwiches.
The best sandwiches in Gran Canaria
Here are the places that, according to our personal experience, serve the best sandwiches in Gran Canaria. Don’t miss them!
1. Bar Yazmina, Telde
If you want to try the famous sandwiches of roasted pork leg in Telde, one of the most mythical and well-known places is Bar Yazmina. Here, the service is one of the fastest on the island. It’s like a car factory, but for sandwiches. That is, as soon as you enter, a waiter takes your order, another prepares the sandwich, another serves you the drink, another charges you and when you least expect it, you already have your sandwich on the bar or ready to go.

We usually take those who visit us from outside the island and as soon as they detect the different accent, they always leave the note on foil like the one you see above.
2. La Garriga, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
La Garriga is another classic of sandwiches in Gran Canaria, more specifically in the city. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria they have three stores distributed between the area of Las Canteras, Mesa y López and Triana. Their specialty is tortilla, sobrasada and also chicken sandwiches. Every taste is delicious!

3. Vaquería Las Salinas, Arinaga
We continue with the mythical places to try the pata (roasted pork leg) sandwiches in Gran Canaria. You cannot miss La Vaquería de Las Salinas, in Arinaga. In addition, the place has a lot of charm and personality. You can even take the opportunity to visit Arinaga, which is great. Take a look at our full article about La Vaquería for more details. Enjoy your meal!

4. Bar Restaurante Dos Hermanos, Ojos de Garza
One of the places that has the best calamari sandwiches in Gran Canaria is the Dos Hermanos Restaurant, in the town of Ojos de Garza. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’ve been missing something big. Ideally, you should have it warm there, otherwise the bread remains somewhat soft due to the heat of the squids. You can also buy it to take away to a nearby beach such as Ojos de Garza or Tufia. Yum!

5. Teror market, Teror
A unique and exclusive sandwich from Gran Canaria and, therefore, from Canarian cuisine, is chorizo from Teror. This sandwich is not usually found in cafes or bars at the street. Of course, if you go to the Teror market on a Sunday (which is where it is tastiest), you will find it in practically all the market stalls. You can order it with or without cheese, you choose!

6. El Sobrino, Telde
This place is the direct competition of Bar Yazmina, since both are located in the El Calero neighborhood. Here the roasted pork leg sandwiches fly, as they have a very good reputation on the island. Many locals think that this place is better than Yazmina, what do you think? Leave us a comment!

7. Mesón del bocadillo, Agaete
El Mesón del Bocadillo is a great option to eat in Agaete, whether you are walking around Puerto de Las Nieves, or if you need to recharge your batteries during your bike route and / or if you are on your way to Güigüi beach and want to take some sandwiches to spend the day. We have tried them on all three occasions and they are always a success. In addition, they include healthy options such as their breast sandwich, mozzarella, arugula and dried tomatoes.

We hope this article about the best sandwiches in Gran Canaria has been helpful to you. We take this opportunity to mention other places to eat sandwiches that our Instagram community has recommended. Take note: Ca’ Jonas, Ca’ Manolo, Ca’ Ñoño, Los Rosales, Pinomar, El Pino in Arinaga, Miramar Airport, etc …
