Salinetas, a family beach in a local environment

24/11/2021 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

Salinetas beach is known for being one of the most familiar in the municipality of Telde at the east coast of Gran Canaria. Like most of the area, it has fine black sand. In the following lines we will tell you a little more about this beach, what to do and where to eat in the area.

Salinetas beach

As we said, Salinetas is a beach that has a very good atmosphere for families and young people. It has approximately 250 meters in length, so it is not very large. In addition, when the tide rises, it remains somewhat small as it happens with the beach of Ojos de Garza. It has showers and bathrooms, both adapted for people with reduced mobility. At the same time, it has a lifeguard during the summer months and all weekends and holidays of the year. Salinetas Beach has the European Blue Flag award given its accessibility, services and features. Next to the beach, there are several areas also for bathing like the one shown below.

To park in Salinetas there are several options next to the access road to the beach. Otherwise, another option would be to park in Melenara beach and walk the walk that connects both beaches. Both options are free. The walk between Melenara and Salinetas is very nice and pleasant, so we also recommend that you go through the promenade even if you park in Melenara or not.

In addition, it has a beautiful viewpoint from which you can take a good view of the beach and enjoy the sunset. You should keep in mind that, despite being surrounded by beachfront homes, it is sometimes a pretty windy beach.

Places to eat in Salinetas

Salinetas has several nearby establishments to have a snack, even on the beach. However, we do not have good references of the local area. We recommend you to jump to the neighboring beach, Melenara to El Mago Carlín restaurant. Even if you like fish and seafood, in the Fishermen’s Guild of Taliarte you have a very good offer.

Please consider that the restaurant is located on the pier of Taliarte, so you have no direct views of the sea. Even so, its local food and service are worth it and you can get there by taking a pleasant walk along the coast for about 20 minutes. Finally, if you like hot dogs, there is a well known place a few steps from the beach, Salinetas Hot Dog.

Swimming channel Taliarte-Salinetas

This walk, in addition, is known for joining the famous swimming trip between Taliarte and Salinetas. Here we can say that there is a kind of channel of 1000 meters for swimming lovers. Therefore, if you are an open water swimmer or just like this sport, this is a good area in Gran Canaria to train.

Holiday homes in Salinetas

Salinetas is a very nice area to stay in Gran Canaria. You have all the services walking distance and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Maspalomas are less than 30 minutes drive.
