Enduro route through El Toscón

23/07/2020 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

In this post we are going to talk about a route with an enduro bike through El Toscón (municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria). This route could be considered as a double circular.

Start of the route from San Lorenzo

The starting point for all routes in this area is usually the San Lorenzo car park near the ambulatory. Here there is space for several cars and a shop to buy water or energy bars if necessary. We headed towards the houses of El Román to take a path towards the Piletas neighborhood.

To make this route, you have to take some minor roads, interspersed by short paths between houses until you reach Ciudad del Campo. Once the climb is over, we will leave the asphalt to finally start the roads through the old biscuit factory in the direction of San José del Álamo.

So far the whole path is mostly flat and with some climbs. The fun hasn’t started yet. But as always, good is expected. We continue climbing with our bikes between the area of barbecues, passing through the neighborhood of San José del Álamo. At this point there is a little more road until finally reaching the neighborhood of El Toscón. Later we will not get on a dirt road to crown the area and prepare to begin the first descent of the day with our enduro through El Toscón.

The descent is of moderate difficulty if you have experience with enduro bikes. Maybe with XC bikes you would have to have a medium-high level to get down here. After the first round of enjoyment, we will link the next descent with a small climb through an area frequented by enduro bikes. Here we will start another Dh that even has some quite fun drops and area with some prepared cant.

The route continues with a good ascent of land that ends on the general road of San José del Alamo, again. That is why we said at the beginning that it is a double circular. We would have finished the first of the two circulars.

We passed the picnic boxes to go to the mythical descent of El Román. Pretty technical and stony. But a delight for mtb enduro bikes. This ends very close to where we left, the town of San Lorenzo. Here we will recover in the famous little town shop.

You will then be able to download the track in .gpx format so that you can follow the route on your own. If you don’t know how to download it and follow it from your navigator or smartphone with the app Gurú Maps, we’ll explain it to you here.
