In this post we are going to talk about our top 10 restaurants with sea views in Gran Canaria. The places that we will mention below are of local food, fundamentally Canarian with Mediterranean influences. Of course there are many restaurants overlooking the sea with food of all kinds, but here are our favorites and with Canarian food as a main offer. And they are our favorites not only for their gastronomic offer, but for the environment in which they find themselves. Do you dare to try them?
Restaurants with sea views in Gran Canaria
Being on Gran Canaria and not taking advantage to enjoy Canarian food overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is a crime. Therefore, with this entry we will try to help you enjoy the sea at each meal. Here is our top 10 in order of preference, although many times we would not know which one to put before another. It’s hard, believe us.
1. La Marinera and Casa Carmelo restaurants, Las Canteras beach (€€€)
It can be said that these are our favorite places with views of the sea to eat local food in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. La Marinera specializes in fish and Casa Carmelo in meats. These restaurants are owned by the same owner and in their menu they have common dishes such as the wonderful salad that we show you below.
Both are on the beachfront of Las Canteras, one of the best urban beaches in Spain. We recommend the house salad, the gofio, the octopus, the cherne or vieja (parrot fish), which is the local fish. If you order fish and wine, as usual, the price goes up a bit.
2. El Rincón Canario restaurant, Playa del Águila (€€)
We also love this place because of its proximity to the sea, potatoes with mojo and squid. Although they also have an exquisite avocado and watercress salad. We leave you here a post of what to see in the area of playa del Águila and Pirata or Morro Besudo, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The Rincón Canario restaurant is also included in the list of restaurants with a terrace in Las Palmas and in Gran Canaria
3. El Capitán restaurant, San Agustín (€€€)
This is another of the places we usually frequent with friends. Despite being in a tourist area (south), it has good local product and views of San Agustín beach. From here we like their potatoes with soft cheese and mojo, Russian salad, octopus and house salad. As you can see, we love salads with avocado, watercress, good tomato… mmmm. As in La Marinera, if you order fish and wine, the price goes up.
4. La Marisma restaurant, El Altillo (€€€)
At the same time, on the coast of Moya we have one of the best restaurants in the north of Gran Canaria: La Marisma. Here you will find the best meat, as well as fresh fish from the area. They also have very rich homemade desserts such as the local manga, the gofio mousse, polvitos and huevos mole. Of course, call and reserve your table overlooking the sea, since not all of them overlook the window that we show you below. You have more info about this restaurant here.
5. El Mago Karlín, Melenara beach (€€)
Here you have sea views at each of its tables, since the whole dining room is a terrace. Although the site is Italian-Canarian, that is, it is not 100% local food, they have a very good product. Try the potatoes with mojo, the Canarian cheeses and a spectacular bluefin tuna. Melenara is located east of Gran Canaria, in the municipality of Telde.
6. Bar Zurita, Ojos de Garza beach (€)
Next to the beach of Ojos de Garza, in the municipality of Telde, we find the famous Zurita Bar. Here they have the specialty of ropa vieja of octopus. Although the fried calamari and potatoes with mojo are delicious too. It is difficult to take a table, so it is highly recommended to take a table soon.
7. Bar Piopio, Tauro beach (€)
In Tauro Beach, municipality of Mogán, we have the well-known PioPio bar. The site is quite touristy for being in the south, although we also go there. The sea views are direct. We recommend you order the fried octopus that we show you below. You have more information on this site above in the link.
8. Oliva restaurant, Tasarte beach (€)
If you would like to know one of the most remote places in Gran Canaria, you should visit Tasarte Beach. It is as if you teleport to another era. On this site they have very good grilled tuna and also the octopus ropa vieja. Although it is important that you consider two things: there are no more restaurants in the area and do not accept card payments.
9. La Bahía del Pajar, Arguineguín (€)
In the town of El Pajar, a few kilometers from the fishing village of Arguineguín, we find two restaurants on the beachfront of Santa Águeda: El Boya and La Bahía del Pajar. Without a doubt our favorite is La Bahía del Pajar. Here you will be able to taste delicious dishes of seafood at a good price. For example, squid, bluefin tuna, squid, etc. They also have a delicious grilled cheese and salad.
10. Restaurant La Cueva, Sardina del Norte (€)
On the coast of Gáldar we have the coastal town of Sardina del Norte, a highly recommended visit in Gran Canaria. Here we suggest the restaurant La Cueva with a sailor decoration. Of course, to have a view of the sea you have to book a table on the terrace. We suggest you to try the mojo limpets or the fried calamari, although they also have a thousand types of original salads.
There are many other restaurants with sea views in Gran Canaria, such as El Embarcadero, Mao Mao beach, Casa Serafín or By Rocío. We hope that with this post you can take advantage not only to taste the Canarian gastronomy, but also to know the special places that the island hides. If you have tried any of these sites, do not hesitate and leave us a comment. I’m sure you can help other readers.
