We could not ignore a section on our blog dedicated to Puerto de Mogán village. Puerto de Mogán is located in the southwest of Gran Canaria, in the municipality of Mogán. It is a small fishing port with its beach and many charms. It is also known as Little Venice because of the small canals and bridges that run through the town. However, it has nothing to do with Venice. This area of Gran Canaria has other reasons why it is worth visiting and we are going to tell you about them below.

Puerto de Mogán, Gran Canaria
It is one of the most touristic areas of Gran Canaria, but even so, if it is your first time on the island, we consider that you should visit it. In the next few lines we are going to highlight its main charms. Let’s start!

1. Mogán beach
It is a small beach about 200 meters long. Despite this, it has numerous services. For example, it is one of the accessible beaches of Gran Canaria. That is, suitable for people with reduced mobility. In addition, it has showers and an area to rent sun beds and umbrellas.

Likewise, we can say that it is an ideal beach for families, since, in addition to being calm waters, it has a children’s area. At the same time, on the shore you can rent skates, go diving, among others.

As we see in the previous photo, to one side of the beach is the port itself. On the opposite side we have a small virgin cove of stones with a pier where you can take a dip by accessing some stairs. On this side of the beach, the water is somewhat cleaner as it is more open to the ocean. It is the cove that we show you below.

2. Sunset in Puerto de Mogán
It can be said that in Puerto de Mogán you will always see the sun or at least if you have a cloudy day, it will never be cold. Puerto de Mogán is one of the areas in Europe that has a greater number of sunny days per year. As well as a pleasant temperature throughout the year. For this reason, it is a happy town where its people will always receive you with kindness. Keep in mind that being located to the southwest of Gran Canaria, on the Mogán coast you can enjoy one of the best sunsets in Gran Canaria.

To get here, you’ll need to head to the dock area and skirt the coast along the mountain to the west. The area is somewhat dangerous and is not conditioned at all, so be careful.
3. Restaurants in Puerto de Mogán
As its name suggests, Puerto de Mogán is a port and also a fishing village. Even for years, the “Cofradía de Pescadores” restaurant has offered fresh fish and seafood of the day caught on the Mogán coast. In addition to fish, their menu also offers other typical Canarian food such as dishes with avocado from Mogán, well known in Gran Canaria. We also recommend the Beach Club Faro restaurant with one of the best views of Mogán.

You also have the option of trying the Los Guayres restaurant, inside the Cordial Mogán Playa hotel. It is one of the few restaurants with a Michelin Star in Gran Canaria. Finally, for an ice cream we really like Gelatomanía, right in front of the beach. The rest of the sites seem quite tourist, but the truth is that we have not tried them.
4. A walk through the marina & village
In the port area there is also a marina with sailboats surrounded by some pretty white houses with some colored stripes, as well as bougainvillea climbing its walls. The landscape as a whole is beautiful and, therefore, much photographed by tourists and locals who visit it. We show you some examples below.

5. Mogán with the family. The yellow submarine
In addition to the beach being the quintessential playground for children, in Puerto de Mógan there is a tourist attraction that takes you to discover the marine species of the area in a submarine. The yellow submarine of Puerto de Mogán is known by several generations of great canaries. In this case, we present its new face, since we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in its previous version back in the 90s. You can book your submarine ride along the coast of Mogán and the south of Gran Canaria here. On the other hand, as you can see in the photo below, skates with a slide can also be rented.

Another of the activities in Gran Canaria that you can do starting from Puerto de Mogán is a boat trip that includes a stop to snorkel in Gran Canaria, specifically, at El Perchel beach. Here you can only get there by boat. The route includes navigation to the virgin zone of Tasarte.
Finally, as we told you at the beginning, Puerto de Mogán itself is a very touristy area, so you will not fail to find souvenir shops, pizzerias, street vendors, sun beds, sun umbrellas, etc. However, if you are going to spend a few days in Gran Canaria and it is your first time, you should dedicate at least two hours to visit it.
