Playa del Inglés beach, restaurants and tips

09/03/2022 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria Leave a Comment

Playa del Inglés beach is located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in the south of Gran Canaria. It is one of the most touristic places on the island. This is so because when the tourist boom took place, here is where all the all-inclusive hotels in Playa del Inglés, the Irish bars and pubs, the junk food restaurants, crappy souvenir shops, etc. were built. Therefore, it is the cradle of mass tourism and where you will possibly find the cheapest hotels in Gran Canaria. This does not mean that we cannot see the most beautiful side of Playa del inglés. Below we will tell you all the charms of this beach, restaurants and things to do around!

Once you are informed that here you will be surrounded by places for tourists, we will show you the beautiful side of the area. First of all, you should know that it is a spectacular beach with golden sand and calm waters. It is approximately 3 kilometers from where El Cochino beach ends to its junction with Maspalomas. Next we will mention you all the things to do in Playa del Inglés. Here we go!

✔ Walk Playa del Inglés – Maspalomas

A walk from El Inglés to the Maspalomas Lighthouse is undoubtedly one of the best things to do in Gran Canaria. In addition, there is a nudist area and today there are few places where you can sunbathe naked. In addition, here you will be accompanied by the famous Dunes of Maspalomas.

✔ Walk Playa del Inglés – San Agustín

From the other end of the beach, in the direction of Las Palmas, we can also walk until we reach the beautiful beach of San Agustín. During this walk there will be parts that you must go through the sand (Cochino beach), but the part that passes through Las Burras beach you can go along a nice promenade.

✔ Holiday World

Between Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, we find the theme park Holiday World Maspalomas Center to enjoy with the family. It also has activities for adults such as its escape rooms, karaoke and bowling alleys. Finally, it has also a wide gastronomic offer in its Nomad Gastro Market.

✔ Water sports

If you like water and nautical sports, on Playa del Inglés beach you can rent 365 days a year: jet ski, skates, windsurfing sails, kitesurfing, parasailing, etc.

✔ Active tourism

From the south of Gran Canaria you can carry out various active tourism activities. For example, one of the best MTB initiation routes through the Ayagaures ravine that we explain in the cycling section of our blog.

Another option is to rent a buggy excursion through the mountains and trails in the south of the island. You can take a look below.

✔ Maspalomas Carnival

Although it is known for the Maspalomas Carnival, this massive party also takes place in Playa del Inglés. It is one of the most fun in Gran Canaria, especially its Great Parade and Carnival During the Day.

✔ Night life Playa del Inglés

The nightlife in this area of Gran Canaria is quite well known. This is where a large part of the locals and visitors party because of the wide range of places to have a good time. We suggest the Pacha Gran Canaria nightclub, a few steps from the Kasbah shopping center. The truth is that the whole area is quite touristy, but if you go in good company, you will surely have a great time wherever you go. You also have the option of going out at the Yumbo shopping center, known as the epicenter of gay tourism in Gran Canaria.

✔ Enjoy the sunrise

Either if you get up early or if you are at dawn after a good party, from Playa del Inglés you can see a spectacular sunrise like the one we show you below. On the other hand, if you want to see the sunset, better from Maspalomas or from a dune.

Restaurants Playa del Inglés

✔ Restaurant La Palmera Sur

La Palmera Sur is one of the best restaurants in Playa del Inglés, although it is also somewhat expensive compared to the average in Gran Canaria. Their dishes are quite creative and delicious. This restaurant has also a very nice decoration and it is located on the ground floor of the Gold By Marina hotel.

✔ Restaurant Allende 22º

In the middle of Avenida de Tirajana we have the Allende 22º. It belongs to a chain of restaurants that also has establishments in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. They are specialized in Spanish tapas, although much of it with an Andalusian touch.

✔ La Taberna Burger Art, restaurants Playa del Inglés

At La Taberna Burger Art you will have the option to choose between nearly 20 different burgers and beers in the heart of Playa del Inglés. They also have tasty starters like the Taberna nachos with homemade bolognese. We like it because some of its burgers have Canarian touches like the Gran Canaria burger with mojo sauce, fried plantain and palmero cheese. Also, the chips are natural. Yum!

Playa del Inglés hotels

Finally, if you are looking for all-inclusive hotels or apartments in Playa del Inglés, we suggest you take a look at all the options below. However, as we see it, it is not one of the best areas to stay in Gran Canaria.
