For us Pirata beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Gran Canaria. This is probably because it is quite hidden and somewhat difficult to access. Pirate Beach is located between Aguila Beach and San Agustin beach. As well is known as the Morro Besudo beach, but few people call it that. Below we tell you how to get there and the main characteristics of the beach. Let's go!
How to get to Pirate Beach
There are two ways to get to Playa del Pirata. None of them are recommended for people with reduced mobility, since there are stairs on both sides. On the other hand, Access with a baby stroller is also difficult, unless there is a strong man in the family.
- How to get there from the Balcón de San Agustín. You can enter the hotel in your GPS Abora Interclub Atlantic and park around the hotel. Once there you must go down some small stairs towards the sea. You will then find a path like the one shown below. If you're lost, ask someone you see in the area.
As you can see in the next photo, if you continue along the seaside promenade, you will reach the stairs shown below. These face directly onto the beach. There are quite a few steps, so you better not forget anything in the car :)
- How to get there from Playa del Águila. Enter the apartments Marinasol. Once you have passed them, you will see some stairs going down to the left. This sign shows the beach in question and says "the beach" and "zum strand" in German. Park wherever you can and it is legal of course hehe.
Later you must advance a little along this path until you reach the promenade next to the sea. Here you will see several coves with different descents. Choose the one you like the most.
The coves of Playa del Pirata
As we said before, if you come from Playa del Águila, On the walk there are different coves through which you can descend. Some have more pebbles than others and when the tide goes out they all connect each other forming a large beach.
As you can see, Despite its natural beauty, this area of the island is not crowded at all. It is probably due to lack of knowledge about how to get there or the absence of services such as toilets, security, hammocks and water activities. However, for us it is one of the best beaches in Gran Canaria. The sea is calm in this area, That's why we recommend it for families. In any case, remember that access is always by stairs, no matter what. Enjoy it!
Hotels Playa del Pirata
Several apartments on Playa del Pirata where you can enjoy a quiet stay with sea views. Furthermore, as we see, it is one of the best places to stay in Gran Canaria. Here you can stay in the apartments Acapulco Ocean View.
Beach video
Below we leave you with a brief video of the beach so you can make one idea of what it's like. We are waiting for you in our YouTube Channel with more videos about more tips on what to do and where to eat in Gran Canaria!
El Rincón Canario Restaurant
Just 2 minutes by car or 10 minutes walking, you have the El Rincón Canario restaurant. This is located on the first line of Playa del Águila. It is one of our favorite places to eat with sea views in Gran Canaria. Plus, you can eat good local food with sea views. We recommend the salad with watercress, wrinkled potatoes and squid. Take advantage!

Do you know when the beach access works will finish?
Ruth & Jorge says
Hello Ana… the truth is that no, I didn't know that they were still under construction!! what a burden!
Juan says
Dogs should be prohibited on the beaches, they are animals with responsible owners (much better, of course) or without them that shit, piss and attack with their canine instincts that are not human as people believe and bother other users. A dog is...a dog.

Just like you like to enjoy a day with your family, I like to enjoy some time on the beach with my furry friend. Humans (children) shit, piss, cry, throw sand at you, leave waste, etc.

Nothing calm!!!!
There are more dogs than people, and they do not have the slightest education from their owners.
They roll around in your towel, they jump on you, they pee and so on, wherever they want, they don't stop barking, anyway... with irresponsible owners, who do not understand the meaning of respect for others.
Silence is conspicuous by its absence…
They play music next to you, and it seems that headphones don't exist, because whether you like it or not, you are forced to listen to it, if you don't want to get into trouble...
I don't know about a "quiet" beach...
Lots of boys and girls, to whom the police do not appear after calling several people on several occasions...
Access to the beach is sad!!!!,...broken stairs, handrails of dangerous height, which do not exist, garbage that people do not take away, the sand strewn with cigarette butts, the city council responsible for the place, ignores the damage, which has been published in the media and social networks.
👉 visit it yourselves and publish your opinion about it…….
Local Guide Gran Canaria says
Hello Teresa! How sad to read what you say, the truth is that it is clear that the fault of all this lies with the people, not with the dogs, because those who must educate them are their owners. What a shame, the truth is that we don't remember it that way the times we've gone, but it's good to have your comment here as a testimony for those who want to visit it. Did you go on a weekend? Regarding the access conditions, we do not understand why the San Bartolomé City Council has not yet repaired those stairs and railings 🙁 A hug, Ruth

If all the beaches continue to be advertised in this way there will be nowhere to go in peace
