01/01/2023 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria 2 Comments

In this article we would like to share with you the pet friendly places in Gran Canaria. That is, pet-friendly restaurants, shopping malls, and beaches. We will first mention 10 restaurants and cafes throughout the island. Finally, we will mention the stores and shopping centers, to finish with the beaches that are officially for dogs (and the unofficial ones :P). Here we go!

Restaurants and pet-friendly places in Gran Canaria

Many of these restaurants are more like cafes or taverns, best known as pet-friendly eating places. Keep in mind that these pet friendly places in Gran Canaria allow dogs in the indoor dining room. That is, not only on the terrace as in most open places. Please, if you know any more, do not hesitate to share it in a comment at the end so that this becomes the best guide to Gran Canaria to enjoy with your furry friend.

1) Luwak. Pet friendly places in Gran Canaria: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

We love Café Luwak both for breakfast and for brunch (on weekends) and also for lunch. They are specialized in vegan and vegetarian food, although they also have flexitarian options on their menu. They also stand out for their delicious specialty coffee and, in addition to being dog friendly, it is an ideal place to go to work with your laptop.

2) Fresquito Las Palmas. Pet friendly places in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Fresquito Las Palmas has opened a little while ago and from the first moment they have declared themselves pet friendly. Here they have possibly the best pancakes in the city and mouthwatering sandwiches and toasts with artisanal bread. In our article about Fresquito Las Palmas you can discover its delicious offer. We are sure that both you and your pet will love to enjoy their nice atmosphere.

3) Wine O’clock, Hoya del Pozo (Telde)

Wine O’Clock is another of the yummy places you can go for breakfast, lunch and dinner with your best friend. In addition, from its dining room you will have views of the Hoya del Pozo beach. Then it is a great plan to walk down the avenue with your dog.

4) Dorotea, Triana (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria)

In Dorotea you can enjoy nice appetizers such as the vermouth, but you can also eat tapas and things that you haven’t tried until now. They also have treats for doggies and they are always welcome. You can also come here for any of the three meals, as they are open all day.

7) Bioloco, Puerto-Canteras (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria)

Bioloco is a 100% vegan restaurant in Gran Canaria with delicious burgers with meat substitutes (soy, mushrooms, beyond the meat, etc.) and salads. Their passion for animals is clear being a vegan site, so they couldn’t stop being pet-friendly.

8) Caracolillo coffee, Arenales (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria)

Caracolillo coffee is more of a place to have breakfast or a snack and enjoy its specialty coffee. All their toasts are made from sourdough bread loaves from Panalogía. Likewise, most of their menu is prepared at their premises or through local suppliers.

10) Maripili Las Palmas, pet friendly places in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Another of the restaurants that has joined this beautiful initiative of allowing pets in its premises is Maripili in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. They are in the well-known Plaza del Pilar, so it has both a terrace and an interior dining room. They describe themselves as a place of urban cuisine with a street soul (patacones, fish and chips, hamburger…)

Pet-friendly shopping centers in Gran Canaria

On the other hand, if you want to take your pet shopping, take note that the following pet-friendly places in Gran Canaria that allow pets on a leash:

  • Regaliz Funwear
  • Las Terrazas
  • El Muelle
  • 7 Palmas
  • Mogan Mall

If there is any other store, mention it in the comments and we will include it in the list.

Beaches that allow dogs in Gran Canaria

Finally, if you want to go one day to a pet-friendly beach in Gran Canaria, we do not recommend it. All three options are pretty bad and somewhat dangerous for your pet. That is, do not expect a paradisiacal beach. They are the following

  • Bocabarranco in Telde
  • Los Cuervitos in Agüimes
  • Tres Peos in Agüimes
Dog friendly beaches in Gran Canaria

On the other hand, there are many other beaches where there is usually no problem if you go with your dog, but you can still be fined:

  • Montaña arena in San Bartolomé de Tirajana
  • San Borondón in Telde
  • El Cabrón en Agüimes
  • Tiritaña in Mogán
  • Playa del Pirata in San Bartolomé de Tirajana
  • Playa de El Risco in Agaete
  • Bocabarranco in Gáldar
  • El Confital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

With this we are not stating that you can legally go to the above beaches with your dog, we are only indicating that there is usually no problem for two reasons. First, because there are no more people on the beach that you can disturb. That is, you are practically alone on the beach. Second, because your puppy does not bother other users and you, as the owner, are a respectful person. Of course, in both cases you can still be fined. Finally, we invite you to take a look at our article on pet-friendly hotels in Gran Canaria to complete this information so that you can enjoy the island with your dog. And don’t forget that we have incredible plans to discover the island on your own with our digital guides!

    Hello,

Is it allowed to go with you dog on a local buses of Gran Canaria? My dog is 15kg. I wouldn’t like to take always taxi or so, and would love to explore the island. 🙂

    Thanks in advance🙏🏼

Hi Silvija! I am afraid that in the Global company dogs are only allowed until 10 kg 🙁

You can read all the rules here: https://guaguasglobal.com/las-mascotas-podran-viajar-en-global/

Anyway, we recommend you to rent a car to explore the island, it is the best option 🙂

      Have a good day!
