If you are looking for kayaking in Gran Canaria, here we are going to tell you about some of the options you have on the island. As a general rule, the main area for kayaking in Gran Canaria is in El Pajar Bay, that is, on Santa Águeda beach. Perhaps this area is not so touristy, but it is located a few steps from the town of Arguineguín. Below we give you more information so you can organize a kayak excursion with your family or friends.

Kayaking Gran Canaria

If you already have experience with kayaking, you can rent it perfectly on the beach of Santa Águeda and row on your own along the coast of Bartolomé de Tirajana. Of course, on weekends there is usually a lot of demand and you have to book it in advance. You can pay on the beach itself. The cool thing about renting it on your own is that you can freely move around all the coves in the area. However, if you do not know the coast, it is always better to go with someone who will inform you about everything that surrounds you.

On the other hand, if you don’t know the area very well and prefer to be accompanied by a guide with a group, a good kayaking route in Gran Canaria is the one we suggest you here. The excursion leaves from Santa Águeda (known locally as El Pajar) and reaches the virgin beach of Montaña Arena. The excursion lasts 5 hours and includes the guide, water, snack, kayak rental and equipment, insurance and photographic report. During the route you will pass through different caves and beaches such as Triana, Las Carpinteras, Los Militares… until you reach the famous beach of Montaña Arena, which is a bit complicated to reach on foot.

Looking for Kayak in Maspalomas? There are no options… but you can find more kayak rentals in the tourist areas of Puerto de Mogán, Puerto Rico, Playa de Taurito and Anfi beach. Especially if you want to go for a ride with children. Most of these kayaks are double or two-seater. You can see the opinions of other travelers and a description of this kayak activity in Taurito in case it is closer to you.

Kayak Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Another of the areas for kayaking in Gran Canaria is Las Alcaravaneras beach, this is where most of the professional canoeists in the capital train. However, for a traveler or visitor, it is not so attractive due to the landscape of the port that surrounds the beach.

So that, one of the best things to do in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is to rent a clear kayak on Las Canteras beach.

✔ Clear kayak Las Canteras

As we told you, one of the kayak routes in Gran Canaria that we recommend you do is along the entire Las Canteras beach and in a transparent kayak. In this way, you will be able to see the marine fauna of one of the best beaches on the island while rowing. Along a large part of Las Canteras beach there is a reef that acts as a barrier to stop the waves, this barrier reef is locally known as La Barra. Thanks to the barra (barrier), this urban beach is ideal for practicing sports such as paddle surfing or kayaking.

This kayak trip through Las Canteras lasts approximately two hours. It includes a guide, kayak rental, photo, guide to aquatic species, and a snack at a local cafe. You can find more details of this tour here.
