Hiking with kids in Gran Canaria
1. Los Cernícalos ravine, Telde/Valsequillo
Hiking with children through the Los Cernícalos ravine nearby Telde and Valsequillo is an excellent option. The hike is one of the most beautiful in Gran Canaria, since it is green and carries water all year round. At the same time, it is quite simple to do as the 90% of the path goes through flat trails. Anyway, you should be careful with the children, since there are certain more dangerous areas of passage, especially if you want to reach the largest waterfall. Therefore, if you go with very young children, you may have to consider the return before the end.
|Duration (round trip)||2 h and 30 min|
2. Hiking to Roque Nublo, Tejeda
Reaching the Roque Nublo on foot can be a beautiful challenge for children. And it is that it is one of the most important symbols of Gran Canaria and, of the highest points. Also, the trail is in good condition most of the year. Also, keep in mind that, even if it is only 3 km round trip, the outward journey is all uphill.
|Distance||3 Km with slope|
|Duration (round trip)||1 hour and 15 min|
3. Circular Los Tilos de Moya, Moya
The Los Tilos de Moya hike could be said to be one of the easiest trails to do with kids in Gran Canaria. Except for the initial little climb, the whole trail is flat. In addition, as you can see, it does not reach 2 kilometers.
|Duration (round trip)||30 minutes|
4. Circular around Caldera de Bandama, Las Palmas de GC
This trail is also very beautiful and recommended for families. The good thing is that it is less traveled. It is a circular route that borders the entire Caldera de Bandama and that can be extended descending to its base.
|Duration (round trip)||1 hour|
5. Roque Bentayga, Tejeda
A few minutes by car from the town of Tejeda, you can visit the Roque Bentayga. It is a natural environment of great archaeological importance for Gran Canaria. In addition, from here you will have spectacular views of Tejeda and the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria. The trail is good to go with children, but keep in mind that the route is all uphill.
|Distance||2 Km with slope|
|Duration (round trip)||1 hour|
6. Charco Azul, Agaete
This is another option for hiking with kids in Gran Canaria in the municipality of Agaete. However, it is important that you bear in mind that the trail to Charco Azul is not perfectly marked, so it may only be recommended for slightly older children. If you have doubts, you can see all the details in the previous link.
|Duration (round trip)||1 hour and a half|
7. Sendero de El Álamo, Teror
This hiking route in Gran Canaria has just been rehabilitated by the Teror City Council. It is a practically flat path except for the passage through two fairly large wooden stairs, one of which is 4 meters long. Even so, it is a route that we recommend for families given its short distance. Of course, you have to be careful when you climb these stairs. You can get more information about this route in our article: Sendero de El Álamo.
|Estimated duration (round trip)||1:30 hours|
