Family restaurants in Gran Canaria
I’m sure you’ve asked yourself, where can we go to eat so that the little ones don’t get bored and don’t be a pain in the ass? hahaha (sorry). In Gran Canaria, there are several restaurants to go with children that have play areas, toy libraries, monitors to keep the kids entertained and even garden areas, small squares or parks next to them. In addition, these establishments usually have children’s menus specially designed for young diners. We’ll tell you all about it!
1) El Cortijo de San Ignacio, Telde
El Cortijo de San Ignacio is possibly one of the best restaurants to go with children in Gran Canaria. Within its facilities they have a playroom, playground and play area available on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. During these hours, there is also a monitor who supervises children from 3 years of age. This service is free of charge. During the week there is no caretaker service, but children can play in the outdoor park with grass. However, they must be supervised by their parents.
2) Bodegón Vandama, Santa Brígida
This restaurant – winery has a garden and patio area ideal for children to play in a safe environment while the adults eat. Within their facilities they have an outdoor trampoline and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays they have a monitor from 2:00 to 6:00 pm to entertain the kids. They also have a children’s menu. For the adults, as it is a winery, its common areas can be visited, as well as enjoying a tasting of Gran Canarian wines. By the way, it is also one of the pet friendly restaurants in Gran Canaria!
3) Restaurant/farm – Granja El Tío Isidro, Telde
Another good alternative to eat with children, especially for children’s birthdays in Gran Canaria, is the farm Granja del Tío Isidro. On their farm they have sheep, turkeys, birds, rabbits, pigs, etc. They also have a team of monitors who take the children on a tour explaining curious facts about the animals. As you can see, children can also feed the animals. The restaurant is just a few steps from the farm and the food is very good, and they also have a kid’s menu. They are only open on Saturdays and Sundays.
4) Restaurant El Dorado del Norte, Arucas
This restaurant is a great place to go with children in Gran Canaria because it has both the Puertillo beach and the avenue to play. So you can eat on the terrace and your children can play on the promenade. It is a pedestrian zone, so there is no danger from cars. If you want to discover this area of the island, have a look at our post with the best things to do in Arucas.
5) Restaurant El Capitán, San Agustín
Right on the beach of San Agustín is this seaside restaurant with a children’s play area, including a ball park. There is no staff to keep an eye on the children, but you can book a table next to the children’s area. Similarly, the beach is just a short walk away. So, if the children are older, they can enjoy themselves on the sand. We have an article about the restaurant El Capitán on the blog if you want more information.
6) Restaurant Maspalomas Golf, family restaurants in Gran Canaria south
Another option for eating out with children in the south is the Maspalomas golf course restaurant. The kids can run around the terrace while you enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, as they are open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (the kitchen closes at 7:30 pm). They also have a children’s menu with options such as spaghetti, croquettes (ham or wreckfish), chicken breast and escalope. Be careful not to let them get into the field and get hit by a ball.

7) El Tiburón, Las Canteras
A different alternative to have a drink or enjoy a good hamburger in the capital while the kids play is at El Tiburón in Las Canteras. It’s right next to La Cícer park, so you can be eating with one eye on the park and the kids having fun. If you are a hamburger lover, take a look at our article on burgers in Las Palmas where we also tell you a bit more about El Tiburón.
8) Restaurant Pueblo Canario, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
The Bodegón Pueblo Canario is also a very comfortable restaurant to go with children because it has several patios where they can run around safely. This emblematic place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria was designed by the artist Néstor de La Torre and the truth is that both its terrace and its interior restaurant are very pleasant. In their kitchens is the well-known chef José Rojano with very tasty dishes. They also have a children’s menu. Finally, it is worth noting that the Doramas Park is very close by.
9) El Dorado, Las Canteras
Another option that we also like to go to eat with the family is El Dorado, in the La Cícer area of Las Canteras beach. Its terrace overlooking the sea is on a promenade where children can play safely. Both the food and the service are great and reasonably priced. If you want your child to eat fish, the grilled slice of grouper is very good. Also, just a few metres away is the park of La Cícer itself, but not so close as to be out of the way.
10) 1890 La Bodeguita, family restaurants in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Another good restaurant to go with the kids is 1890 La Bodeguita, inside the Santa Catalina hotel. They have garden areas around their terrace dining room where children can play safely while you enjoy a good meal. It is also very close to the Doramas Park where there are several areas with swings and playgrounds, etc. The restaurant is not one of the cheapest on this list, so you can book it for family celebrations.
11) Triciclo, Vegueta
Triciclo is one of our favourite restaurants in Las Palmas. We are big fans of their octopus potato salad, so we go there a lot, both as a family and for any other occasion. Its terrace overlooks the pedestrian streets of Vegueta La Pelota and Armas, so it’s ideal for them to play safely.
12) Bodegón Las Lagunetas, Triana
Another family restaurant in Gran Canaria that we frequent a lot is the bodegón Las Lagunetas in the Triana neighbourhood. Its terrace in Las Lagunetas street is in a pedestrian area and is very comfortable because it overlooks a small square where children can run and play. The food is good and the setting is very pleasant.
Finally, if you want to enjoy a yummy breakfast in Las Palmas with children, we recommend Fresquito Las Palmas and Bachaco Poke Bowl. Both places are on a pedestrian area and have a terrace, which makes them perfect. And that’s all, we hope this article has been helpful. If you can think of any other restaurant, you can leave it in the comments so that we can enrich this content together.
