Circular enduro route in Valsequillo

14/11/2021 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

In this post we are going to share with you an enduro route through Valsequillo. This area of the island, although many do not know it, is the cradle of descent in Gran Canaria. It has many technical roads on terrain of all kinds. It is a technical route that runs through Valsequillo, Tenteniguada and San Roque.

Circular enduro MTB route in Valsequillo

This circular route passes through all the towns that we mentioned before, so you could start it from any of them. Although, we advise you two starting points (and end). If after the route you want to stay to eat in Valsequillo in some of the magnificent restaurants in the area, you could start from the same town. The track passes very close to the church.

The route has several natural or artificial jumps of little difficulty

In the event that you are simply going to do the route, it would be better if you started in the town of San Roque, as it is the lowest part of the route. You already know that there is nothing better than a good “happy ending”. That is, end the route going down.

Características de la ruta

This enduro route through Valsequillo is about 29.73km long, with an accumulated positive slope of 1036m. The day we marked the route, we went at a medium pace, taking 3:44 hours to finish. Physically it is affordable for low / medium level riders (not beginners). Although the technical zones require that you have a medium / high level to do them without getting off the bike. But it is only in one of the descents of the route (that of the “Montañón”), and it is not more than 1km that is difficult. The rest can be done quite well, even if you don’t have a high technical level.

During the route you will have several opportunities to buy drinks and food. You can even stop at a coffee shop if you want to take it easy.

At what time of year is it better to do the Valsequillo Enduro MTB?

Any time is really good. Although we have to consider that the area is humid and cold. So doing it in winter will require you to bring something warm. Regarding the terrain, the ideal is that you go some day with sun (or at least it does not rain or it has not rained the night before). On wet terrain the grip is perfect, but if it’s raining, the rocky area can be tricky and dangerous. Concerning the dirt part, the mud may ball up and the bike won’t roll well.
