El Cabrón beach, Arinaga. Serenity and scuba diving

19/04/2022 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria Leave a Comment

El Cabrón beach is located in the municipality of Agüimes. In particular, just 5 minutes by car from Arinaga village. It stands out for being a beach that is not a tourist place or overcrowded, apart from the transparency of its waters. Its sand is blond, although it also has some volcanic rock formations. It has almost 300 meters long, so quite tiny. For us it is one of the best beaches of Gran Canaria.

Main characteristics of El Cabrón beach

Below, we detail everything you should know if you intend to discover this beautiful beach of Gran Canaria.

1. Scuba diving at the beach of El Cabrón

El Cabrón is one of the favorite places to practice scuba diving in Gran Canaria, one of the activities in Gran Canaria that we recommend you to try.

2. No services

In El Cabrón beach there is no type of services: no showers, no toilets, no restaurants and no sun beds or umbrellas. Parking is on a dirt ground that is a few steps away.

3. It is not accesible for people with reduced mobility

The access to the beach of El Cabrón is complicated, since you have to go down dirt roads from the parking lot and some irregular steps. The area itself is practically intact and semi-virgin, despite the constructions that surround it.

4. Dirt road

Access by car to El Cabrón Beach should be from Arinaga / Vargas beach and on a dirt road. These roads are not conditioned and they have many holes and potholes. The easiest part is from Arinaga and even parking next to the school (yellow circular building that we show in the following photo). Better to walk 10 minutes, than to destroy the car.

5. No surveillance

There is no lifeguard on the beach, so you should keep it in mind if you go with children. However, the waters are generally calm. Nothing to do with the town of Arinaga where the wind whips the most. The beach is in a kind of bay, which makes it sheltered from the wind.

6. Idyllic place

Due to its not so good accessibility, you can enjoy one of the best beaches on the island with total peace of mind. It has views of the Arinaga Lighthouse.

Places to eat nearby El Cabrón beach

The closest place to eat nearby El Cabrón is the Lighthouse of Arinaga restaurant, in the same lighthouse. We haven’t tried it yet, but we have heard well about it. Our proposal is that before you go to the beach, go to La Vaquería Las Salinas and buy some pork leg sandwiches with Canarian cheese to take away. You can eat it quietly on the beach and, besides saving a few euros, the enjoyment will be greater. Remember to pick up the trash before you leave! 🙂

We hope you like it and remember to subscribe to our channel if you have not already done so. Remember that you can activate subtitles for English 🙂
