In this post we are going to talk about a circular route for MTB or Gravel Bike from Telde to San Mateo. It is perfect for those novice cyclists who want to go one step further on their bike routes through Gran Canaria. Although it is not of many kilometers, it does have some accumulated positive unevenness, since it starts from sea level and reaches above the town of San Mateo. The interesting thing about this track is that you will never go through the same place and, therefore, you will see different landscapes. The 75% of the route passes on dirt tracks or trails.
Circular by Gravel from Telde to San Mateo
The route starts from Telde, right in the parking lot of the Las Terrazas shopping center. From the very beginning of the route, we will reach the town of Valsequillo along somewhat broken dirt tracks with stones. This whole area is more comfortable with an MTB, but from this point on we will do a part of the road in which we will advance much more with a Gravel bike.
Once you reach the highest point of the route, above Tenteniguada and San Mateo, you will begin to go down the tracks until you practically reach the sea, through the Jinamar neighborhood. Point that you will link by dirt trails to the parking where the track began.

What type of bike is ideal to do this route through Telde and San Mateo?
The ideal would be a rigid XC bike with front suspension. But it is perfectly suitable for a full suspension XC Gravel Bike or MTB with little travel.
