The orography of the interior of the island made the residents of the countryside build cave houses in Gran Canaria. Some were used for resting cows and sheep, others for storing crops and agricultural utensils, or even for shepherds and farm workers to inhabit them. Cave houses usually have a very good interior temperature throughout the year, usually around 17 and 21 degrees, depending on the season. In addition, they integrate perfectly with the landscape where they are built.

To this day, there are still many locals residing in cave houses. In the cave houses of Gran Canaria you will be able to live a unique rural getaway due to the environment in which they are located.
