In this post we would like to tell you about the restaurant Casa Josefina. A place to eat that we would take our friends on our visits to Gran Canaria. This Canarian restaurant specialises in leg of lamb. On their menu they also have salad, cheese, croquettes, calamari, etc. but you can’t come here and not try the leg of lamb. It’s like going to a hamburger restaurant and ordering a salad. We’ll tell you all about it below!

The leg of lamb is baked in the oven and accompanied with natural fries, it is delicious. One leg of lamb for two people is too much, but it doesn’t matter, don’t miss it. Whatever you have left over they will prepare it for you to take away. The ideal is to order it to share between four people, so you can try other delicious dishes such as chickpeas and calamari. To start with, they always ask if you want Canarian soft cheese with bread and aioli.

For dessert, we recommend you try the gofio mousse. Gofio, that staple food for the Canary Islanders made from ground cereals that we have talked about in our Canarian food post. Similarly, if you are going to have coffee, in the Canaries we usually drink it with normal milk and also condensed milk and we call it “leche y leche” (milk and milk).

Currently (2023), a portion of leg of lamb costs 42€ and you’ll hardly be able to finish it if you’re only two people. So we don’t recommend ordering starters if you’re going as a couple (unless you don’t mind taking a tuper of lamb home with you). Casa Josefina is in the neighbourhood of El Zardo, in the municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. If you want to get a table and not have to wait (especially on Saturdays and Sundays) try to go at 1:00 p.m. The rest of the days of the week, unless it is a public holiday, there is usually no problem. Below, you can see their opening hours, telephone number and location on Google.
