If you are looking for the programme of the Carnival of Gran Canaria in 2023, here we are going to show it to you. The dates of the Carnival change every year and, in the case of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it will be held from the 10th of February to the 5th of March 2023. However, the most popular carnivals are those of the capital and the Maspalomas Carnival, in the south of the island. You can check the dates of the Maspalomas Carnival in the previous link.

Carnival in Gran Canaria 2023

The Carnival of Gran Canaria capital city is one of the most important and well-known in Spain. It is held in February and is famous for its parades of comparsas, murgas and galas (such as the Drag or Carnival Queen). The carnival dates back to colonial times and has evolved into an event of great cultural and tourist importance for the city. During the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival you will have a unique opportunity to experience the city’s entertainment like a local. But please dress up in costume. The most eagerly awaited dates of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival are the Drag Queen Gala and the Gran Parade, although there are also other events as we show you in the official programme.

When is the Drag Queen Gala in Las Palmas?

Friday 3 March 2023 at 9:00 p.m. This year is the 25th anniversary and it is usually televised nationally.

When is the Parade in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria?

Saturday 4 March 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Please note that many streets in the city will be closed on this day, so we recommend not to try to enter or leave Las Palmas de GC from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at night. It is best to use public transport.

Another important date during this event is the Gala of the Queen of the Carnival of Las Palmas on Friday 24th February. Finally, the festivities of this Canarian carnival end with the burial of the sardine on Sunday 5th March. On the other hand, bear in mind that the 21st of February is Shrove Tuesday and is a public holiday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. As you can see in the programme, carnival is celebrated on this day.
