As we told you in the article about the best restaurants in Las Canteras, Bodega Extremeña restaurant is one of our favorites. It is a tavern that stands out for its hams and Iberian sausages, although its select and wide offer will surprise you. In this Extremaduran restaurant the tables are barrels and the chairs are stools. One of the best places in the capital for a bite to eat and a good time next to Las Canteras beach. Highly recommended to go with friends because of the good atmosphere.

If you’re going in a group, if it’s not cold, try to go early or book a table on the terrace, which has normal tables and chairs. Here are our favorite dishes.
Bodega Extremeña restaurant: star dishes
We have several favorite dishes that we try to vary, as everything is delicious. Mainly, we recommend you to order the following dishes: avocado, tomato and tuna salad, the foie with Iberian ham sandwich, the broad beans with ham, the cheeks and the Extremaduran polvito. The potato omelette is also a classic, as is the charcuterie platter. You can order the omelette with sausages or onions.

The cheeks in sauce are super tender and come with rice and potatoes. Probably one of the best we have tasted. There are not many places on the island that offer this dish.

We would also like to highlight the wide variety of sandwiches on the menu: a total of 18. Our favourite is the one with Iberian ham and foie gras. You also have the Torta del Casar, which is a very strong cheese from Extremadura. They call it their “Extremaduran delicacy”.

A very typical dish in mainland Spain is habitas with cubes of Iberian ham and garlic, and at the Bodega Extremadura you can order them. Spectacular.

Finally, here you can try one of the best Uruguayan polvitos on the island. This dessert has become quite popular in Gran Canaria and at the Bodega Extremeña they have called it “polvito extremeño”. You have to try it. It is mainly made with María biscuits, dulce de leche, cream, butter and meringue.

To finish, as a courtesy of the Bodega Extremeña they always treat you to a delicious acorn liqueur. It is quite smooth.
