As we mentioned you in our post about the best places to eat at Las Canteras beach, the Bodega Extremeña restaurant is one of them. It is a kind of tavern which offers a lot of delicacies. We can highlight its Iberian ham and their different types of Iberian cold meat, though we insist that its select and wide offer will surprise you. You should know that it is not a fancy place. In fact, the tables are barrels and the chairs are like bar stools. A place to snack and have a good time next to Las Canteras beach in the center of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Highly recommended to go with friends for the good atmosphere that is breathed.
A place to have a snack and share it with your friends with a very nice ambient. In case that you are visiting the Bodega Extremeña in a group we recommend you the terrace, always when it is not cold outside. The barrels are not that comfortable and you can even feel the breeze from Las Canteras beach. We would also like to mention the very nice and quick service.
Bodega Extremeña: star dishes
We have some favorite dishes which we try to vary, since everything is yummy here. Last time we ordered the dressed tomatoes, the small sandwich of foie and Iberian Ham, the broad beans with Iberian ham and garlic, the braised Iberian cheeks, the brownie and the “polvito extremeño” (a dessert). However, it is true that here the classic dish is its Spanish omelette with cold meat and any of their cold meat assortments. Previous times we have also tried the oxtail is exquisite and so tender.
Let’s start with the dressed tomatoes and the yummy bread that they always serve as soon as you have ordered something.
The last time that we went here we tried the braised Iberian cheeks and it was a great success. They are quite tender and they come with rice and mashed potatoes.
Moreover, we wold like to highlight the wide variety of small sandwiches which they offer in their menu. In total they have 18 options. Our favorite is from Iberian ham with foie. They have also the one with “Torta del Casar”, which is a strong cheese from Extremadura. They name it their “Extremaduran delicacy”.
Something which is very typical from the Spanish mainland are the broad beans with Iberian ham and garlic. Here you will be able to taste them. Awesome!
The sweet moment: the “polvito extremeño”
Finally is time to talk about the desserts. Here you can try the best polvito uruguayo from Gran Canaria. You have to taste it. Is mainly made with digestive biscuits, dulce de leche, cream, butter and crunchy meringue (suspiros de Moya). We leave you here the recipe. This dessert is typical from Uruguay and it has been extended around Gran Canaria. At the Bodega Extremeña they have named it “polvito extremeño”.
They have also other desserts such as the brownie. Anyway, our advice is that you order more polvitos instead of trying more dishes. It is so yummy. In any case we will leave you below with an image from the chocolate brownie. We regret not having ordered two polvitos…
Finally, as a courtesy from the Bodega Extremeña restaurant they will always invite you to a delicious liqueur.
Reservations and opening hours
Always that you get here, try to book before, since it is normally crowded, even during the week. In fact, on Saturdays night and Sundays they do not open. Few restaurants can afford closing this days. The contact phone is +34928266048. They are open from Monday to Friday from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm and from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am. On Saturdays they only open from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. You can have lunch or dinner here for around 15€ per person. Do not forget to book in advance or to go soon to get your barrel table!
