Circular MTB Artenara

29/08/2020 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

In this post we will talk about a bike route through Artenara with the Gravel Bike. Actually, it is a circular route that leaves from the intersection of Los Chorros, through Firgas area. However, the destination is to reach the town of Artenara. It is an ideal route at any time of the year due to the type of terrain.

Bike route through Artenara

This excursion is perfect for a Gravel Bike or Cross Country bike (XC). It has approximately 50% of easy wide dirt tracks and 10% of simple trails. There is only one part where you will have to get off the bike, reaching the highest point of the route in Cruz de Tejeda. We will pass through the town of Firgas, we will continue to the Pinos de Gáldar road towards the town of Artenara. Once there, we pass by the famous Unamuno viewpoint, within the town of Artenara.

Later we begin the return going up by the Caves of Caballero. Then we will connect with some roads that lead to Cruz de Tejeda. From there we will go up a little more to take a path that leaves us at the intersection of Aríñez. Finally, then we will go down to the starting point by road.

The route duration is almost 4 hours in motion (it depends on your pace). With a positive slope of 1.775m in just under 54km. We have two provisioning points. In the town of Artenara or in Cruz de Tejeda. Here you can buy water or food to continue your route. Below we leave you with a photo gallery of the route.

Keep in mind that the route was made after the fire in Gran Canaria (summer of 2019), so the landscape will improve for sure.
