1) Gáldar. Maybe the nicest village in Gran Canaria

If you really want to appreciate the authenticity of a Canarian town, we suggest you visit Gáldar. This village is located in the north of Gran Canaria and it was the first capital of the island. Today it preserves the structure of many of its historical buildings: the casino, the royal theater, its food market, the square and Parish of Santiago, its pedestrian streets, the Archaeological Museum of the Cueva Pintada, the architecture of Canarian balconies in their buildings …

2) Tejeda, beautiful towns in Gran Canaria

Tejeda is one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. The natural environment and local vibes which surround Tejeda are amazing. It is surrounded by several natural monuments as the Roque Bentayga and Roque Nublo. Almost all the houses in Tejeda are white with their roofs and touches of stone and wood. For us it is one of the places to visit in Gran Canaria.

3) Puerto de Las Nieves, fishing village in Gran Canaria

Puerto de Las Nieves in Agaete is without a doubt our favorite coastal town in Gran Canaria. Its people, its atmosphere and its marine environment conquer anyone. The houses are white with blue and sailor details. On the other hand, the beaches of Puerto de Las Nieves are with boulders, but it has a bathing area on the dock, as well as the natural pools of Las Salinas. The cliffs that accompany the town are spectacular, making Agaete an idyllic place.

4) Teror, best villages in Gran Canaria

Oh Teror, Teror! How beautiful you are… It is an inland town. It is where we will find the patron saint of Gran Canaria, the Virgen del Pino. In addition, most of the houses in the center have beautiful wooden balconies and pedestrian streets. On Sundays there is a market next to the church square, something that we recommend you to visit.

5) Agüimes

This inland town of Gran Canaria preserves its local essence 100%. The historic center is full of metal sculptures like the one of the camel that we show you below. One of the most photographed corners of Agüimes. At the same time, in its pedestrian streets we find various shops and small cafes to enjoy the local environment.

6) Puerto de Mogán, holiday village in Gran Canaria

Puerto de Mogán is one of the most beautiful villages in Gran Canaria. Being next to the coast and being very close to the tourist centers, it makes it also a holiday village. However, it still has part of the local atmosphere. Here the walls of the houses are accompanied by bougainvilleas of different colors and beautiful flamboyants.

7) Arucas

This town in the north of Gran Canaria stands out for its spectacular neo-Gothic parish of San Juan. Much of the streets of Arucas are pedestrian. They are surrounded by small shops and terraces. The visit to its center could be done in around 1 hour, so you can combine it with some other pretty town in Gran Canaria that is nearby (Teror or Firgas).

8) Moya town

We can also walk through the center of Moya in a short time and your visit is perfectly combinable with the small hike of Los Tilos de Moya. Below we show one of the museums located inside an old Canarian house. Here a large part of the houses preserves the structure of Canarian balconies and stonework. It is a very little tourist town, so the whole environment is authentic.

Another of the beautiful towns in Gran Canaria is Santa Lucía de Tirajana. A non-touristy place located in the middle of nature.
