Bahía Feliz beach, happy holidays by the sea

21/10/2021 Por Local Guide Gran Canaria

Bahía Feliz beach is one of the quietest tourist areas in the south of Gran Canaria. It belongs to the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and we can say that it is the first tourist center that we find if we come by car from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A few steps away is Playa del Águila and Playa del Pirata or Morro Besudo. All this area of the coast is linked by a promenade that even reaches San Agustín and, therefore, also to the famous Playa del Inglés.

In the previous photo, the hill that appears in the background is where the Morro Besudo or Pirata beach ends and San Agustín beach begins.

Bahía Feliz beach, Gran Canaria

Bahía Feliz or Happy Bay if we translate it has several stone coves, although as seen in the previous photo, when the tide goes out there is some sand left. As we said, it is a quiet area to stay in Gran Canaria and spend a vacation, especially if you travel with children. Here most of the hotels have family rooms, entertainment and common areas designed for children and the option of choosing the all-inclusive board. Possibly, this makes the gastronomic offer of Bahía Feliz uninteresting.

Places to eat around

If you are looking for restaurants in the area, the ideal thing is that you walk to Playa del Águila to eat in the Rincón Canario. To get here on foot there is a walk along the sea that will captivate you. And, in less than 20 minutes you will be enjoying a delicious meal with sea views. In the Rincón Canario they offer good Canarian food such as fresh local fish, potatoes with mojo sauce, watercress and avocado salad … Ah! And they have Canarian wines too.

On the other hand, just on the other side of Bahía Feliz, although we haven’t been there yet, friends from the area recommend us the Aeroclub Grill Restaurant. A home cooking place, with huge portions and good prices. Finally, in this tourist area you can also visit Garbo’s, a venue for events and shows that, at the same time, offers dinners. It is a rather touristy place and frequented for bachelor parties, etc.

Apartments and hotels in Bahía Feliz beach

We can say that it is one of the best areas to stay in Gran Canaria. Here you can find quiet apartments and hotels on the beachfront, as well as a wide range of hotels for families. If you want to escape from the all-inclusive and very touristy hotels, we recommend you to rent an apartment or holiday home so that you can discover the most authentic side of Gran Canaria and its rich gastronomic offer.
