Recently we had the opportunity to enjoy the experience Around the table at LaBoh, hotel Bohemia Suites and Spa. If this is the first time you read about this, pay attention to the following lines because they have a most original, creative and exclusive proposal for gastronomy lovers in Gran Canaria.

Around the table, Bohemia Suites and Spa hotel
The Bohemia Suites and Spa, in Playa del Inglés, is a five-star hotel with a strong commitment to gastronomy and cocktails. Recently, one of its restaurants, LaBoh (from LaBohratory and LaBohemia), has created an innovative experience called Around the table. Here the chef Juan Bertolín and his team develop their creations and dishes inspired by their travels. The genre they use for their creations is mainly local and national product, although sometimes they include ingredients from other parts of the world.

The kitchen or laboratory is visible to diners, so you can see the preparation of each dish. Moreover, the experience includes a tasting of 11 bites served Around the table that share a maximum of 8 people. The wine pairing is optional, which we recommend to include without a doubt. Despite sharing a table, we loved the atmosphere they have created to be able to share impressions with others, the exceptional music and the attention of the staff. Excellent. If you don’t mind, let’s get to the point and we will explain you what we ate.
11 Bites and 8 diners Around the table
Then we leave you with photos and description of the dishes we tried. Exceptionally, we tried 12 bites instead of 11, how lucky!
1st Bite: sev puri of Guía cheese, Iberian ham and a top of banana and cider.

2nd Bite: beetroot biscuit with asparagus yolks and silverside fish.

3rd Bite: candied eggplant, thin sliced pancetta, miso soup and blackberry honey.

4th Bite: persimmon and pumpkin soup, smoked sardine and salted leaves

5th Bite: seafood Cuba Libre, Foie Royale with an air of galanga and honey rum and miso.

6th Bite: pickled oyster with tsensuyu sauce and salicornia juice

7th Bite: avocado in flames, Osetra caviar, pink pepper corn-citrus cream with guava and geranium salad

8th Bite: senbei of “fula” fish with shiso and sea urchin rice and its crust.

9th Bite: matured wagyu beef with leek tartare and laminated truffle

10th Bite: Cheeses from Uga Farm (Lanzarote)

11th Bite: blackberry mousse coral.

12th Bite: chocolate biscuit, nuts cookie, jelly bean and black chocolate

The menu is changed once a month and according to Juan Bertolín, they usually include local raw material, such as the Flor de Guía cheese, the fula fish, the cheeses of the Uga farm of Lanzarote, some wines, etc. We assure you that what you try during the experience Around the table will not leave you indifferent. These are “experiments” that you have not tried before.
Service
Throughout the tasting, Chef Juan Bertolín explains the ingredients that are part of each bite. As is done with each dish, the sommelier explains the wine that accompanies it if you arrange the pairing. It should be noted that part of the wines are from the Canary Islands, such as the sparkling Malvasia from El Grifo (Lanzarote) or the white of Los Hoyos (Gran Canaria), also from the Malvasía variety.

Finally, the baker in charge of LaBoh proceeds to the explanation of the desserts. In short, a complete dinner show, presentation of dishes, unique flavors and service. Like who goes to a show, really. In addition, the explanation of each dish is also given in English and German.
Price of the experience Around the table
Of course, like every show, its price must be paid. The cost of the tasting Around the table at LaBoh is priced at € 85 per person. As we said, the pairing is not included and has a price of € 40, but it is optional. However, we highly recommend including it. As you have seen, it is not only about the show, the cuisine and the exclusive environment.

You have to take into account that the raw material that you will taste during Around the table is of first quality and usually of high prices in the market: oysters, foie gras, caviar, wagyu meat, local fish, wines of limited harvests, etc. In addition, the tasting lasts around 3 hours. In other words, if we analyze everything, the price can even be said to be cheap.
